I am sick to the back teeth of the "bIdEn iS jUsT aS bAd!!11!!" argument.

Trump is a senile, rumbling, hateful buffoon who only has one interest at heart, himself. And that has always been fine and dandy with his hateful supporters.

But as soon as the Dems put someone forward who isn't absolutely perfect and walks on fcuking water, they lose their sh1t.

This argument is disingenuous and nothing more than basic trolling.

And if Biden is a senile, incoherent mess who doesn't know what's going on around him, imagine he STILL beat Trump!

I can't see any problem, from the outside looking in, in a person saying Biden's presidency completely inept at the moment. Going from the worst president ever to the someone who is making Jimmy Carter look good isn't a great place to be, imo.

    How is it inept?

Did you miss the infrastructure bill, vaccination success, restoration of international relations and job growth?

It's the lack of objectivity and ridiculously over the top invective that gets me the most.

Republicans disagree with the Democrat agenda - I get that , totally understandable , that's Politics.

But all this "DESTROYING AMERICA" crap is just beyond stupid.

Every single thing that is done is described in these horror show terms - Destruction , demolition etc. etc. etc.

Ted Cruz yesterday said that Texas might have to secede from the Union if the Democrats "fundamentally destroy the country".

What was the type of the thing he listed as being portents of this "destruction" ? - Making Washington DC a State!!

Hyperbole doesn't even come close to describing it.

I think the daily show called it "anger porn". Basically, the right get a kick out of getting angry. People tune in to Tucker, Ingraham and Hannity to be told what to be angry about.

    It's nonsense.

Btw Cruz isn't dumb. He knows he is talking BS, but he knows his base is dumb and will believe it.

Like this from our resident conspiracy theorist: "but since Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are laying ruin to America."

    Completely ridiculous 😂

This reporting from RealClearPolitics turned my stomach and should turn anyone’s who believes in democracy.

Jail is too good for Hillary Clinton, Mark Elias and other of her lawyers and her opposition researchers, Nancy Pelosi, Chucky Schumer, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, James Comey, Democrats on Muller's faux investigative team, several heads of the FBI and other high ranking members of the Democrat party.

If these government and former government officials get away with the treason they committed a real insurrection should be considered. These treasonous actions throughout Trump’s administration caused, in a large part, Trumps loss in the 2020 election, and aided by the complacent mainstream media who acted like little more than handmaidens of the democrat party and sold their journalistic integrity to democrat devils. Biden, Harris, Pelosi and Schumer, should be removed from office immediately, and tried for treason IMO, because apparently they all knew what was going on.

You can ignorantly accuse me of "whataboutism," but what it really is involves identifying similar scenarios in order to see if it holds up when the shoe is on the other foot!

You forgot to mention pizza parlour paedophiles and the return to life of JFK Jnr in that conspiracy theory.

And of course, Hunter Biden. Can't forget him. Did you know his DOB is the 4th of February 1970? That is 04/02/1970. But if were to take the day (4) and the month (2) and add them together, you'd get a 6. If you were to take the 7 and minus the 1 in the year, you'd get another 6. Two sixes. So if you to divide 6 by 2, you'd get 3. Take 3 from the 9 in the year, you get 6. Three sixes!!!

There you are. Conclusive proof that the Democrats have been working for Satan in trying to destroy America all along.

What more proof do you need?

If only the GOP had had some chance at power that could have stopped all of this. If you really believe all that nonsense Notobtuse, then you must be incredibly annoyed at how incompetent Trump was to allow all this to happen under his watch.

So in your book trying to enable more people to vote and open more polling stations in democratic areas is a bad thing, but redrawing election maps to ensure republican wins and removing polling stations and other ways of voting in democrat areas is a good thing?

Has anyone actually tried to intervene to talk some sense into you? Though it looks like you're too far gone for that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,795 ✭✭✭randd1

Imagine that that is the level on utter nonsense that now passes as American political discourse.

I'm beginning to Thin Trump is less of a cause and more of a consequences of the American slide towards becoming the world's first Idiocracy.

And it seems as though the Republican Party is the party of the moron and the rich, of Cletus and Gordon Gecko. That the Democrats struggle against them shows both how weak the Democrats are and how messed up the US is.

Still though, as a soap opera its great viewing.

So, as I said. The money was sent to overwhelmingly Democratic areas to get the vote out and bear Trump. We agree on that.

where I disagree is that this amounts to election rigging. The people voted how they voted. No one falsified votes.

    Nothing illegal was done even.

No one falsified votes but the money was used illegally to essentially buy votes.

Quin_Dub, I still can't quote your posts. Biden is on path to destroying America and I gave you the reasons for it. And from the election results this month and the dismal favorability ratings Biden has now received, it appears the vast majority of Ameircans agree with me. But I get it... you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

Trump was never the cause of this. He is a logical consequence of decades poor education, social inequality and an increasingly unfit for purpose political system. Boris Johnson and Brexit are the UK equivalent. Trump is the consequence but his behaviour added fuel to the fire that is hastening a rapid decline of a functional democracy.

Money was spent to make it easier for registered voters to cast their legally entitled vote and in the GOP mind that is "fraud"?

I mean you can't be ok with groups like the Koch foundation pouring countless millions into shaping election results and then claim to have issues with Zuckerberg or whomever doing exactly the same thing.

As other have said , if you didn't want Billionaires spending money on elections then maybe you should have fought tp prevent to the Citizens united decision?

Citizens United didn't specify that this kind of money had to be spent in a bi-partisan fashion.

Regarding gasoline prices (imagine: no one driving in 2020 due to Covid and prices were down. Whoulda predicted that), it's interesting to look at EIA historic graphs:

    chart.png

Highest price was mid-2008 (GWB), dropping dramatically under Obama, and beginning to rise again until 2020 and the Covid-induced drop. Now that people are actually driving again, the prices are up.

As for energy independence, that's not accurate. The US still imports plenty of oil (from Canada, Russia and the Persian Gulf). Fracking's reduced this amount, with the concomitant environmental costs. It's better to say the US was becoming more 'self-sufficient' than in the past. But it's not independent. Raise oil prices in the Gulf, do you think the frackers in South Dakota won't raise theirs?

There is no version of the world where "The Vast majority of Americans agree with you".

The GOP will always and forever be a party for the overall minority - Yes they had some good results last week and some bad ones (see Georgia) , but the current form of the GOP will never ever gain the support of the majority of Americans , not even close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,424 ✭✭✭notobtuse

This time I can quote you... go figure. The Koch foundation donates money, legally. They don't funnel money into the election claiming it is to be used for one thing when in fact it is used illegally to the benefit of democrat voters almost exclusively, and also get election officials to do the dirty work for them.

There is none and never will be.

But that is immaterial to the people perpetuating this absolute horsesh*t, because it just serves to further their agenda.

Debating with them is absolutely futile.
