Rather than posting rumours in the News thread or bogging down the General Discussion thread with baseless speculation, I thought we should have a separate thread for this kind of stuff. It also means that boardsies who couldn't give a crap about the rumour mill can easily ignore it by staying clear of the thread.

So, post your rumours about games, studios etc here. Please include a source so we know you're not just making up **** yourself for the lols. :pac:

Anyway, first up Shpeshal_Nick says he has been told of a new Marvel multiplayer game coming exclusively to PS5. He himself speculates that it's being made by Insomniac. Here's the reddit thread discussing it, which includes a YouTube link to the podcast where he says it.

He dives into it a bit more on VGC. Personally I'm not that interested in MP Horizon. However, he mentions Simon Larouche who was hired to direct an unannounced title back in 2018, and he has experience directing online shooters (Rainbow 6 Siege, Killzone 2). That might tally with previous rumours of a Killzone or SOCOM revival.

A data miner/YouTuber has found references in Steam's publicly available branches and Valve's patents to what he thinks could be a new wireless standalone VR headset called Deckard. Ars Technica have verified the findings themselves, but rightly point out that this doesn't mean the product will actually make it to production. Full story on PCGamesN.

Anyway, Manchester-based Fabrik Games have been acquired by Firestrike (themselves recently bought by Sony), and it looks like they're working on a sci-fi/horror title, according to this redditor at least.

She went on to say that the remake is not MGS-related.

Now, why should we take anything she says seriously? Well, we shouldn't take any supposed insider/leaker seriously just to avoid the bitter tears of disappointment. However, she correctly predicted the date for the recent Sony showcase, and also posted this three days BEFORE said showcase;

Would be nice to see MGS4 escape the PS3 platform.

Also nice to have people replay it and then have people realise that I was right at the time and it's a pile of poo.

I recently replayed it through PS Now, and with the rose-tinted glasses having slipped a bit through the years, yeah, it's a lot of poo.

But damn, some of the moments and sections in it still hit for me. It's a fan-service game, and it doesn't even always succeed in that, but when it does, it can hit hard. The return to Shadow Moses is one of my favourite moments in gaming.

An MGS3 remake though... f*ck yeah! Best game of all time.

It's going to depend on how it's remastered. If it's just shining up the graphics and a bit of the physics, I don't know if I'll bother, not with everything else on my list. If they change controls and maybe some small quality of life additions, maybe I will.

It's a mix of nostalgia and the thought of something brilliant.

These games are 20, 19 and 17 years old. Even though I play them semi-regularly on various platforms and on PC they've been modded out their own arse at this stage, there's still the expectation that the original devs could potentially drop an updated version that's a labour of love to these games.

Personally, I don't think much of R* anymore after their actions over the last 8 years since GTA V dropped. And unless they've outsourced it to one of their studios that still give a shít, there probably won't be much reason to get these remasters, unless you need shiny graphics. Like Penn said, this won't be enough for most, but a lot of people still have blind faith in R* and will buy regardless.

All of this is speculation of course (perfect thread for that :)), they could be fan-fúcking-tastic, but I have a bad feeling they won't be.

I think anyone expecting something more than the android versions that have been the basis of all other releases then I think they need to be prepared for disappointment.
