He got the whole way through it without mentioning it fair play to him. Thanked his contributor for the information followed by "and not even a mention of antigen testing" Last line of the segment, broken at this stage

Pat is on his other hobby horse this morning. Having a good old go against the "vandalism" perpetrated by An Bord Pleanala.

After spending 2 weeks putting the boot into the GAA over the All Ireland hurling final arrangements and the numbers attending, today Pat istoday putting the boot into the GAA for not insisting on vaccinated only rules fir the All Ireland football final - which could incrase the attendance by 20K

Larry Donnelly gave all the reasons on RTE yesterday, most of which I would agree with.

Listened to Pat today for the first time and have to say based on one show his expertise is far more informed, better briefed, less aggressive , than anything RTE have to offer in that field.

He wasn’t afraid to take on sacred cows and angles that other stations wouldn’t go near, I feel.

Lets see if those opinions hold for a few more shows.

Three hours is too long though.

Jesus, it’s not long enough when you’re staring down the ‘Lunchtime Live’ barrel at 12pm.

Nothing worse than having to listen to moronic opinions of callers to “phone in” shows, B.

“It is not blood that makes you Irish but a willingness to be part of the Irish nation” - Thomas Davis

Lunchtime Live has been reduced to awfulness: "how do ya feel about X? Text or phone us as we're discussing spitting in public/dog shyte/something I saw on Netflix"

I wonder will Pat be raging today about the disgusting scenes around Ballsbridge on Saturday evening.

Pat does not like Colin Powell. The guest defends Powell but pat has none of it.

The west doesn't have time to stick with challenges for the long term.

Uttereance from an opposition TD from the cool vantage point.

    Fantastic guest btw

    Great answers.

I'd imagine the food poisoning rate is high amongst these people.

    Probably built up an immunity!

Supporters in Landsdown Rd not wearing masks, singing and enjoying themselves (despite the sh1t show going on in front of them).

People in the pubs drinking pints before and after the match.

People walking on packed streets outside the ground.

    Disgusting stuff.

Bizzare at this stage people like that texter still saying 12 to 15 Yr olds don't need the vaccine as they aren't affected by Covid, it's for the overall protection of society, everything now about is the individuals benefit, such a selfish race of people the Irish have become.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,041 ✭✭✭Call me Al

    That's one person. One text.

They aren't representative of every parent with children in that age group, or the Irish people in general.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,113 ✭✭✭Technocentral

True have heard it quite a bit though, Irish society is definitely more self centred and selfish as opposed to 40 or 50 years ago though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,113 ✭✭✭Technocentral

Haven't met or otherwise talked to anyone who's "dying to get back to the office 5 days a week"!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,041 ✭✭✭Call me Al

You're basing this opinion on our attitudes to vaccines when we, the Irish people, have one of the highest rates of vaccination in the world

I think you're wearing a pair of rose-tinted glasses for 40-50 years ago if you think human nature was a whole lot different back then. We had selfish gobshites around then too. You just get to hear (these texts) and see more from them nowadays unfortunately.

back to the antigen tests early today !!

a friend tested positive , she texted 2 of my friends who she was out with. 2 did the antigen test (both asymptomatic) 1 positive 1 negative. Both did the pcr tests , both positive. What good is a flick of the coin test ??????????

It's suitable for certain scenarios. Say those two friends were going to an event and they didn't even suspect they were positive, maybe because the other friend never told them or whatever. They both get antigen tests, one is positive. Now you've caught a case that you would never have otherwise, regardless if it's missed the other one.

They're not intended to replace PCR testing.

Jesus that chap from advance cleaning systems is quite the clown.

We can't get the people we want 🙄, "Mexicans, Brazilians" wtf is that about, then he goes onto to say we can only pay minimum wage as our Clients won't pay more for their services. Jesus wept is it any wonder he can't get staff FFS,

I'm not suggesting there are some abusing the PUP but this employer and is attitude hardly encouraging applications, Just shocking.

Is maith an scáthán súil charad.

Surprise, surprise no outrage from PK about the Ireland match last night.

I clearly saw most people in the stands not wearing masks, heard the crowd in great voice singing for most of the game. Saw videos and pics of people congregating in pubs around the place before the game. Streets full of people walking to the games.

Is it only when it's the GAA and Croke Park that Pat throws a hissy fit?

BTW - I'm delighted to see the Aviva half full and people out enjoying themselves again. Just feel the double standard in the commentary by the likes of Pat need to be called out.

Plenty of them types around, they go in and undercut everyone else to get the job and cry and blame everyone else bar themselves when they can't get staff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 23,248 ✭✭✭✭2smiggy

Pat always seems to have sympathy with these guests complaing about not being able to get workers. Usually a snide remark about staying in bed for €350 a week. He fails to mention that these workers are probably not getting a whole lot more than €400 a week without any of the costs involved being taken into account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 451 ✭✭MBE220d

Same with staff in hospitality, can't get staff bla bla bla, if you pay a decent wage you will always get staff, if you cant do that well its time you changed your business.

Very competitive area. Cleaning contractors, services, catering etc all seem to get chopped and changed regularly in factories I have worked in.

    Brutal game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,807 ✭✭✭It wasnt me123

I’m saying the same thing regularly. Just because there is aa minimum wage doesn’t mean that is what you pay people. Pay properly and you will get the staff - stop paying slave wages. No one can live on 400 a week.
