I assume you want to switch a heavy load like an immersion?

I just use a regular smart switch with a separate heavy duty relay.

I use a Shelly smart switch, with this relay https://www.heatingcontrolsonline.co.uk/spdt-relay-230v-20a-p-664.html

Thanks. It’s for an oil burner so not as high as an immersion but high enough. I’m not sure where I’d put the relay as I wanted to just put on a new switch where the old one is and the wires only barely reach the old one, but I’ll have a look and see could I work anything.

Have you smart switches already? Or any idea what eco system you'd like to use?

I use this one on my boiler.

It works with the Tuya App. I've a mix of different brands and eco systems but control them all with home Assistant.

I’ve the in-line sonoffs wired into things like lamps and tv extension leads, and use a couple of the plug in sonoff units in the kitchen. Those and some smart appliances controlled with various google/nest home displays. So I’d like to be able to control with all the google stuff.

I'd initially tried to fit a digital oil timer switch (non smart) but the cables weren’t long enough at the back of the switch to connect it in.
