Sure, but as far as I can see Mods, CMods, et al are not identified at all

I'm seeing My Threads on the desktop. I might have activated the Touch site? I'll send a screenshot in a while. I'm on mobile right now.

Not on desktop unless a mod starts a thread. On mobile it does show up.

Have they actually dealt with any of the major issue since they launched the new version? There's been a few responses from Odhran, Niamh etc but precious little actual progress.

I'd love to hear an update on getting my forums working in the way it was, and drop down menus

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 32,222 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

..... and the shocking speed (or not) of pages loading.

And can bold/unbold be brought back for distinguishing threads that have new posts?

  • Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 12,891 Mod ✭✭✭✭igCorcaigh

This is what I'm seeing on my laptop.

Is this the Touch site, or does such a thing exist anymore?

You need to click the star at the top right to follow threads on mobile. They are known as bookmarks, not my threads.

To find them click on your avatar, then click on the star in the drop down menu.

Posting in a thread no longer automatically subscribes you.

There's a huge discrepancy between the mobile and desktop sites, I think this is why so many are confused.

You read a post describing a feature or function and are left wondering what the hell you're doing wrong!

60 pages in and the same questions being asked.

    Good job Odhran and Co.

And whoever else let the switch over happen like it did. Duh.

Same stupid carry on a few years with other "upgrade" and all feedback ignored then aswell. I never forgot the stupidity on show back then but you've exceeded even that here.

Im 15 years here and have barely been on since the F-up.

    Your post was stupid.

    Mod Tools. Christ sake.

Nearly as bad as people complaining about their ignore lists.

You joined in 2019 though. Banned account? Going by your attitude that's what I would assume

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,115 ✭✭✭✭ohnonotgmail

I'm here 18 years. Do you think my previous account was banned?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,404 ✭✭✭CelticRambler

Just had a look for the first time at the migrated "My Forums" ... and it's another botch. 15 forums on the list that subscribed to versus the 6 that I previously followed.

And (as has been endlessly pointed out by others) the desktop site is sooooooo slooooooow. From the time I click on the My Bookmarks shortcut, I can quite literally log in to the new Not Boards site, scan the New Posts list there and make at least one complete reply before this site has finished loading and formatting the Bookmarks page.

I'm 17 years here, I assume I'm a banned account as well according to the Book of Overheal?🧐

Bad attitudes aren't one way, ex-mod!

This country established its own government – hopelessly imperfect though it may be – to serve and vindicate the needs of Irish people, first and foremost.

The electorate are a huge part of the problem. You put shite in, you get shite back.

I just dont want to use this anymore. Every thread I was following, dead. Every forum, dead. The only semi active threads are ones reacting to the boards downgrade. What's the point in even browsing here if it's a ghost town.

And whoever signed off on this, well, you made a real dogs bollix out of it. You literally couldn't have done any worse if you tried. Boards has essentially been down for three weeks because I don't class this as an active site since then.

Any "fixes" in the future are only taping over the cracks of a horrible horrible design that literally nobody wants to navigate.

Rip it up, start again, you get a solid F for effort.

    Good luck.

The most disappointing part is that all the functionality is probably all there, it's just scattered around the place and called something different (categories/discussions vs forums/threads etc). So your depending on users to figure it out and come up with their own hacks to get things right.

Any bit of communication in advance or testing with users would have highlighted these issues in a heartbeat. Seems like it's fucked.

See, that problem right there is the kind that a platform ‘upgrade’ will never fix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,214 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Fair sick of when I go onto the touch site on my phone and scroll down on the homepage it very often shoots back up to the top of the page for no reason.

The rest of the updated site itself is also absolute dogshit, but everyone seems to have mentioned that already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,683 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

I've no idea, but you aren't displaying a poor attitude either. Maybe you lost your account in the hack, maybe you changed names to avoid a reputation. Maybe indeed you had some kind of ban. I just know I've always just been Overheal on here and I regard with suspicion young accounts who claim a seniority.

    This is pretty much it.

The boards.ie custom theme hides the forum title and Follow link on Desktop which effectively breaks that feature and makes the site feel very different than mobile.

I don't know if this was intentional or not but the site makes a lot more sense with them visible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,028 ✭✭✭✭thesandeman

I've been asking for the questions/resolutions re: mobile and computer to be separated since the day of the changeover.

The main people involved have ignored me completely. However @Boards.ie: Mark did reply on one of the threads (I can't find it anymore) saying they would prefer a megathread but if others agreed with me they might look into it.

If you can find my post (I can't) and you agree with it, maybe with a bit of support they might look at it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,028 ✭✭✭✭thesandeman

Afraid not. The only things that look familiar are the words "My Threads", "My Posts" and that lovely blue colour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,325 ✭✭✭iLikeWaffles

Which one of you's had a little too much tippy tippy. It's actually embarrassing reading all this, bickering pre-pubescent schoolboys over who's football should be used.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,109 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

Boards has always been on Irish time for me in terms of the time stamps of posts but now it has changed to my local time (+7 hours). Can I manually change the time zone on the site back to Irish time?

Most of the new site's failings have already been covered, definitely not an improvement so far.

What pisses me off is they haven't even bothered to look at something as basic as the colouring. Surely vanilla has a range of present pallette to work with... But even if not, 60 seconds by a dev adjusting the pallette will make this place look at a lot better, even if functionality is fcuked

    Just discovered another problem

In old threads that had a pic or file "attached" the attachment didn't migrate over.... Rendering the thread (or post) useless as it references the attachment

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
