Recommended cycle routes around Tramore

I've done most of it and it is one of my favourite loops anywhere

Basically your main choices are probably Coast Road towards Dungarvan (beautiful scenery, some short but tough hills in places), Waterford Greenway (46km traffic free, but can get too busy on weekends or nice days, great early in the morning though) - a loop where you take the Coast Road to Dungarvan, Greenway back to Waterford City, then out to Tramore is probably 100k or so and if you get a SW wind then the way back is not too tough, stop for a coffee or a pint on the way too. Then you have the Comeraghs which are just a turn off the Greenway, I'm not that familiar but Mahon Falls is a nice climb, road surface not great in one or two parts.

Only other option off the top of my head is towards the airport then Dunmore (stick on the main road when you get to a pub, don't follow the sign to Dunmore, i.e. follow the coast) and head back in the direction of Woodstown, Passage, Faithlegg, Waterford City.

I'd be inclined to avoid popular coastal routes in tourist season as much as possible. The coast road in good weekend weather wouldn't be pleasant solo on a bike.

You can avoid a nice chunk off it on routes below by using a road closer to coast running out of Tramore

The first one is the "real" coast road, with only about 10km or so of official coast road between Annestown and Bonmahon.

The bits up around Dungarvan are hard to. The easiest bit is probably the Mauma.

Both hard routes but rewarding. Ride both of them 🙂

Used to cycle most of the backroads of the east county whenever I could.

I would recommend the coast -> Brownstone Head -> Dunmore East -> Woodstown beach -> Passage West (take the high road) -> Minaun -> Cheekpoint -> Faithlegg and then you can start making your way back cross country. Would always recommend if you can get up to reservoir at the south end of Waterford City, thats a beautiful little stretch towards the airport.

Going west, along the coast, never got to do that, and do miss it. Tougher cycle though lots of hills.

I live in waterford. Heres 3 very different route for you. The coast road is Beautiful but tough going. The second route is short but also tough. The third route had mostly lovely flat roads but goes up scrouty (My favourite hill near Waterford).

I was in Dunmore East, went for 3 morning spins, nice to have some climbs as it's very flat where I live. Lovely part of the country, very few cars, nice scenery.
