Weird atmosphere in Croker today, almost like a league one.

Thought the peno for us and the one not given to Meath was harsh, but I’m not sure it would of made any difference. Was hoping for a competitive game, I miss the closer games from the 90s.

I remember all the painful losses up until the late 00s so I’m not sure why some people post in here like Dublin have always dominated. Football didn’t start in 2009, Kerry still have the most all Ireland’s by a mile and you never ever heard of people splitting them up.

I’d like to see the football more competitive and don’t begrudge other counties getting more funding,Others need to just do better with what they have and stop whinging. but Dublin suffered for a long time but didn’t just get funding, they used it well.

Good to see a bit more of a fight from Meath in the 2nd half. Still think they have too much to do, and Dublin are always capable of putting together 5 or 6 scores in a row.

Great hit by Shane McEntee! Nice to see some fight.

Dublin are the best in the game at the sly block off the ball after giving the pass to stop a potential block.

While they have many great attirbutes, Dublin are probably the best team in the country at killing a game. Its been a terrible match, but maybe Meath are finally getting their act together

Monaghan have played Dublin twice in the Championship in the last 10 years. 2017 was a 10 point loss and 2014 was a 17 point loss.

Another under 8 point winning margin for Dublin, against Wexford it was their first under 8 point win in Leinster for 8 years.

The 1-13 conceded today was their highest scored conceded in Leinster for 5 years. The cracks are clearly visible up to opposition such as Kerry, Mayo to take advantage.

That was a fine day out all the same. Better second half overall from Meath. Built in a nice bit of tension.

The moaning as we played keep ball was made all the sweeter as we got scores on all three opportunities to properly kill the game.

I'm looking forward to Spillane or whoever decrying this and shouting for a rule change. Again.

Dubs will be beaten this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,800 ✭✭✭FintanMcluskey

Mayo and Kerry are many times more likely to get beaten by lower opposition than best Dublin in croke park

This Dublin are finished theory is amusing, suits the gaa as it generates interest in the championship of course

the way the talk is going here I thought Dublin were actually beaten for the first time in a championship in about 8 years

Nice to see the minutes silence today in Enniskillen. Not sure why some venues do the minutes applause.

Anyway. Tyrone should beat Monaghan and then we might see Pat and the Tyrone spokesperson for head to head again!

Yeah I always found the applause very tacky and only used to cover up a bad crowd.

I'd give Monaghan every chance of beating Tyrone, there's nothing between those 2 sides. Not sure why so many people think Tyrone have the greater chance to give Kerry/Dublin a better game, they got an awful hiding from Kerry very recently.

Monaghan have a dreaduful record v tyrone especially in croker

    3 defeats there since 2013

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭shrewdness

This isn't confirmed for Croker. Also they've beaten them twice in Ulster since 2013.

Not sure how much stats like that are relevant over time anyway when there are different management teams, and many different players too.

Your probably right but monaghan always seemed to be spooked by Tyrone

All though they have beaten tyrone at underage more recently which may help

Monaghans abilty to throw away leads is also concerning, its hard do call IMO

Monaghan look a better side this yr that to previous I'd say they will give Tyrone one hell of a game and just might take them.

As much as I'd love it, it's not going to happen imo. Not a chance in hell (reverse jinx activated).

Colm O'Rourke made an interesting point on The Sunday Game.

Dublin controlled the last quarter and scored the last three points.

That's all that I needed to know about today's game.

    That's the most important part.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,190 ✭✭✭blowitupref

Finished far from it but the cracks are clearly visible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,133 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Woun't say the GAA are happy with Kerry been so stubborn and not giving up home advantage for the Munster final in turn not allowing it been moved venue and allowing more supporters in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 20,713 ✭✭✭✭Bass Reeves

and where would it be moved to??. Pairc ui Caoimhe will only hold 1-2K more. Any extra revenue is swallowed up by costs.

This Dublin is on the decline agenda suits the media and the GAA , cant see it myself. They won't be beaten this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 433 ✭✭redlad12

Under 8 point winning margin, that's clutching a bit now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,625 ✭✭✭dobman88

So much wrong information in one post it's hard to know where to start with it.

Firstly, there is absolutely no reason to give up home advantage. Why should they be expected to?

Secondly, the GAAs ire should be directed at govt for not allowing more supporters. Current restrictions allow 500 spectators in a stadium with a minimum capacity of 5,000.

Any increase in crowd sizes have been at the govts discretion, not the GAA, not the provincial council, not the hosting or competing counties, the govts.

Most of those, maybe even all of them as far as I remember, have been called "test events" to see how feasible it is.

They've obviously decided to continue being ultra cautious, as they have been all along, with the increase in cases.

Even if they switched venue, there would be no guarantee of an increase in people allowed to attend. We are seeing this with only 500 being allowed at the hurling qualifiers this weekend when there was 3500 in the same venues recently.

FWIW, I think its ridiculous we still have a 500 limit on crowds at outdoor stadiums but they're the current "rules".

But your comment is a bit foolish.

Don't believe it is, they has carried their sloppy league form into the Leinster championship against teams they should be beating by far greater margins.

It's not a decline agenda they have regressed. If they are to go on and win this AI it would say more about the lack of quality from the opposition/main challengers more than anything else.
