Immersion - which element is connected to which wire?

    Is there an easy way to tell which element is which in the sink/bath combo?

    Sink is usually black and bath brown if wired correctly

    Yes , open the switch and see which cable is connected at that end

    I can't depend on the wiring from the switch end unfortunately, it's been redone a couple of times. Would I be right in saying its just down to whatever ways it's wired when the element is fitted? (i.e. take out the element to know for sure?)

    Any element I have fitted comes with the cable attached / prewired. I've never had to connect the cable to the element side. Only to the switch. Black should be sink & brown should be bath

    Disconnect wiring & check the resistance of each elements with a multimeter. Bath will be 20, sink will be 28 (ballpark), assuming both elements are functional.
