Yet here you are posting about the channel everyday on here, along with the usual suspects, funny that :pac:

Prior to posting on Friday, I hadn't been involved in this thread in a week. :) I'll confess the Andrew Neil exit made me laugh so I felt need to post. Don't worry, I'm sure it's really a booming success.

In fairness, the Lamestream Media who are reporting on the viewing figures and taking immense glee at how poorly GB News was beaten in ratings by the Welsh language version of Paw Patrol are all lying by ommission.

None of them are mentioning that it was a cracking episode of Paw Patrol. Really one of their best. I mean, Skye is pregnant with Rubble's baby? Marshall is secretly a drug addict? Huge plot twists everywhere.

I mean, I think that's what was happening. I don't actually speak Welsh.

Erm... Surely you and the masses should be off watching it. The fact that the station looks unlikely survive, that's not cancel culture. That's just there being a far greater demand for Paw Patrol in Welsh.

I'm just amused at the panic this small news project has created among lefties

    I dunno.

Its more fun to see it lurching around desperately just embarassing itself daily.

While the (very) few online cheerleaders, try to claim its in anyway competent and a "threat" to the mainstream.

In reality its about as threatening and competent as a 10 minute old kitten.

"Fear", your beloved channel is a bad SNL sketch in real life.

Can you point to users being panicked? I've seen annoyance at people laughing at the channel but that's about it really..

No i don't really, i disagree entirely with everything they broadcast but i don't wish for it to go into the ground, I will however laugh uproariously when it happens

I see people getting agitated because a non-lefty news outlet has entered the game. it seems to be getting a lot of attention for such a small affair ;)

You seem to be repeating the same thing over and over again to try and convince yourself you're right.

It's getting a lot of attention because it was hyped to the sky before it started and has turned into a slow motion car crash with hilarious typos and technical gaffes.

Pointing out viewing numbers isn't trolling.. Do you want an echo chamber of praise for the channel?

Yeah. They've taken a low effort business model, wailing about something called "woke" which only really needs some lad with a phone and then added a lot of ruinous costs to it with no obvious way to make money.

It's hilarious that there's investors who didn't see this coming.

Saw someone point out that it's more like a video podcast than any type of news or opinion station.

The question is, will the drop in viewers (and with Andrew Neil taking a break from it after just two weeks) give them cause to change anything major? Right now I imagine Neil is begging the investors for a truckload of cash to drive over to Piers Morgan's house, but even then Morgan probably wouldn't even go to it for the money as there'd only be so much he could do for ratings if the ratings throughout the channel are so low as a whole. Morgan also would have less tolerance for technical difficulties.

So will they change anything? What can they change? Pre-launch they could probably entice people to join the station. With ratings plummeting, people will be far more hesitant to join.

I don't think there's much that really can be done.

The advantage that Piers Morgan had was that he was broadcasting in the morning when there's not a great deal on. This is the time when people are getting ready for work so it was something to have on in the background presumably.

Ultimately, this is a well served market and the leaders are household names like BBC News which is taxpayer-funded and Sky News which itself is a liability but fits into the Sky portfolio.

The only people getting "agitated" are the GBnews fans who at the beginning were shouting from the rooftops about how this "news" channel would herald a new beginning and would shake up the media world.

A couple of weeks later and thier captain has deserted the sinking ship, viewing figures have plummeted, ongoing tech issues make every single minute of airtime look like it's being run by first year media students.

I get it, you and others HAVE to keep posting like you have above, you have to say the "lefties" (whoever the fùck they are) are upset over this channels existence, or the tech issues are only teething problems. You have to say this because the alternative is to admit that you were wrong, and we all know that ain't gonna happen.

So keep fighting the good fight, I'll just be over here giggling at how terribly bad the station is. Wether it lives or dies it won't affect my life either way.

I think now that Andrew Neil has jumped ship the only chance they've got is hiring Piers who tends to attract these types who are obsessed with culture wars. None of their current line up are going to boost their low viewership numbers so they need a heavy hitter like Piers and fast. He could name his price now but Id say even he is wary of joining a sinking ship, they did already approach him months back and he refused it back then.

I read that Rupert also wanted to set up his own UK news channel but pulled his plans when he saw how advanced GB News was in getting to the market first. He might now spot on opportunity to pick over the corpse of GB News. If the investors have sunk £60m into this folly they would probably bite Ruperts arm off if he arrived with £10m or £15m because otherwise it looks like they are losing every penny thats gone into it.

There's no market for this type of opinion station frankly. The edge lords from the internet are too busy on Twitter where every second account is just a bot. And the rest of them are getting their facts from YouTube.

Who's left to watch it ? It was a bizarre proposal from the off. It's evidently an idea from people who think they understand media in 2021. Piers could make more money doing his own YouTube or podcast without the level of investment for a full blown TV channel.

TV is in decline as it is

I think you've dramatically overvalued the value of both GB News and Piers Morgan here. The market for professional edgelords is on social media, not for televised news which people expect to be about facts and not personalities. Morgan was a host of a Breakfast show and probably occupied the entire niche for wailing about woke on TV.

I can't see Rupert Murdoch being stupid enough to touch this turd with a pole, frankly. Even for a pittance, he'll expect a return on investment and there's no sign of where it will come from.
