Seeing things as an investment and wanting a return is actually a really good attitude. The only bad thing is restricting what the 'return' is to pure cash. I use my computer for a LOT of things. Work, play, communication, hobbies, gaming. Having a high end system for someone like me is an investment. The return just won't always be purely in money. The computer being blazing fast can just straight up save me time (and time is money) and undue stress.

    There, saved you the bother.

A very small number of people will get the founders edition at MSRP right?
But no one with an Irish shipping address!

Twelve hundred US for the 3080Ti? Feck that shet.

    Ah fuck off, Jensen.

And the 3070ti with only 8gb ram means it's a hard sell too.

3080 remains the sweet spot if you can get one at a reasonable price.

Blah, oh well, i'll truck on with my 2080 a while longer..

The 1200 would be okay but in my opinion but you know it will be double that when it comes out.

£1049 is the UK price too, so a little over €1200 before VAT/Customs etc.

Absolutely insane pricing for it, but they'll still sell out in an instant.

$500 more than the 3080. Insane. I'm interested to see the thermals though - same TDP as the 3090, but same cooler as the 3080.

The thing now is, despite the massively overinflated base price of the card - is there even any other option given the massively inflated scalper prices of the rest of the series?

Like it's going on nearly six years I've been running this 980Ti, not sure how much longer it's going to deal with me running it basically full beans while barely getting 1440p60 in modern titles. I'd go for a 3060 to tide me over for a couple years, but even those cost about as much as the 3070Ti MSRP ($600)

Depends how the lite hash rate versions of the other cards go and whenever they release.

With the 3080ti, even though they halved the hash rate for miners compared to the 3090 and regular 3080, It's reported that it still has a hash rate higher than the 3060, similar to the 3060ti/3070 now but it's still impossible to get your hands on those cards too. And I'd be willing to be that there'll be a strong push to find a workaround to whatever limiter they impose.

People shot me down months ago when i said the 3080ti was going to be 1200 dollars

Crazy fact is you wont be able to get a FE edition of both the 3070ti and 3080ti cards here in ireland as scan.co.uk is the only authorised reseller

The rumours going around the last week or so saying that the AIB version of the 3080ti start at 1800 dollars does not surprise me

1200usd msrp vs the 3080 700usd msrp............wtf :D cant even blame scalpers or miners when you see this bull**** from the the actual company itself

It's the same MRSP as the 2080 TI.

3080 LHR still seems the best value at the high end, assuming there's reasonable stock this time.

If we are already almost one year into the 30 series it would be hard for me to justify those prices to my wallet. I'll try to convince my self that my 1080 can hold out until this time next year when they will be getting ready to announce the 40 series . Battlefield 6 on low to medium settings will be grand ..............

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 878 ✭✭✭Luck100

It would be nearly a year's mining to pay off a 3080TI at list price. If the limiter isn't cracked straight away, I don't see miners scooping these by the armload for 2X list price.

AMD's new GPUOpen malarkey means you'll be able to use FidelityFX on the 10 Series so for the supported games so there's hope yet.

Yes the 90 SKU is new.

$999 was for AIB, $1199 for FE, there is no doubt that Nvidia is putting the squeeze on AIBs this generation but FE prices are consistent.

Out of curiosity, how long do people use their current GPU before replacing it?

I haven't posted here in a while but I was getting pissed off trying to get a 3080 using the discord stock checker for the longest time.

I just want to ensure my computer is capable running BF6, starfield, elder scrolls 6 etc.

Has anybody here tired a freight forwarder from Spain or France to get a founders card ?

I've seen on other threads that scan UK will ship to Ireland minus the UK VAT but it's not implemented at checkout and you'd need to contact CS to make arrangements which would make getting a founders card impossible as they sell so quickly

I don't know what the story is for existing accounts, but we can't even create a new account with Scan from Ireland now. Jokers.

Tried it with LDLC but they won't let you ship to a freight forwarder, they just cancel the order

Out of curiosity, how long do people use their current GPU before replacing it?

I mean I've only had three GPUs up until now, but both a 275 and a 660 I used for three years before upgrading.

If I'd stayed on that cycle, my next upgrade from the 980Ti would've been around the time of the release of the 20 series, but at that point the prices were already going too high, and the relative increase in power wasn't worth it, plus I had to buy a new phone at the time as well as the Nexus 5 was giving up the ghost.
So I've kind of been milling about waiting around the next series to come out hoping it was a pretty hefty generational leap - which it is! - unfortunately it's also come with the massive shortages and scalping.
