This isn't a crash, it's market manipulation to convince people to sell so others can buy cheaper. Just look at who's going all in!

Oh, well that's all right then, nice and easy to manipulate the price, that's even more reassuring, a sound investment so . . . no one will be able to make a fortuning shorting that market when it suits them . .lol.

Please take my money, where do I sign up ?

It's up to you, plenty of money to be made as long as you're smart enough to take profits when they're there and buy in the dips.

Dipped my toe in the crypto currency recently for the first time, see what the fuss was about. Bought €1k of ETH. Last time I looked on Revolut, my "investment" was sitting around the €680 area.

Think it was last Wednesday evening, I bought the ETH, so not even a week ago. Hopefully it'll start heading in the opposite direction soon.

I bought mine at 400 last year :p

That doesn't mean you make a bad investment, just sit on it, you'll be well in the green by the end of the year

Is there a market in shorting BTC?

If you have you ask then I would say it is a good idea to stay away.

If you see the bandwagon... it's too late

With ETH quick in, quick out. Bought @ €1900 back in March, sold on under 4 weeks later @ €3800

Bought a few bitcoin back in 2016 at around €300+ each. A guy even paid me in bitcoin for a bicycle I was selling. Sold off this year before mr.tesla got in :( would have made €30k more if only I waited. Traded a little for the cheaper $hitcoins just to see where they'd end up in 12-18months

Practically every exchange, including the ones listed in the OP.

That sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Shorting the best performing asset every year for the last 10 years? What could go wrong?

Straight from the "the Irish property market will never collapse, sure look it's increased constantly for the past twenty years" mantra circa 2007. Us old timers have seen this movie before.

At least with property you're buying something of tangible long term value and it (eventually) recovers.

Bitcoin, on the other hand, hmmm....but you're young, you'll learn...I hope.

Are you of the belief that bitcoin has never collapsed? (And recovered).

I've got some news for you..

I wouldn't say that. I'm of the belief that the apparent emotional attachment Bitcoiners develop to their favoured asset class is a bit weird.

You can't actually shag Bitcoin, as far as I'm aware.

Because only professional investors get involved in Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is going to zero eventually. Western governments will eventually do what the Chinese have done.

I suppose that might kill the short market as well though.

If you want my take, steer clear. Buy another MX-5 if you've more money than you know what to do with! Just my 2c.

So western governments will only allow bitcoin to be mined with renewable energy and only allow qualified investors to trade in it?

Firstly, no. Secondly how would that get the price to zero exactly?

Fvp4 is right to say it's going to zero, but not entirely correct to say that the reason it's going to zero is because of western governments copying China as regards the regulations.

It's going to zero because it doesn't exist. It has no intrinsic value. Like 3 day old Dutch tulips.

Honestly people that don't spread investments across shares, crypto, property, cash and diversify assets are foolish imo.

You don't even have to invest much in crypto to make good money

Crypto and shares the last few years has been the easiest money I have ever made, 1000% return I made on doge coin recently has me questioning why I even bother with shares.

With cyber attacks on banks looking very likely in near future it would be wise to have some cash and crypto on hand.

Bitcoin will be back and over 100k in the long term, this just another cycle.

You're wasting your time. The thread was started by someone who is so deluded that he thinks a collapse in the value of his assets is equivalent to a 50% off SALE! So he should buy more!

I'm sure some of these people have accidentally made money in this fantasy land but I'd bet any number of Bitcoin that they'll be penniless in the not too distant future after spunking the lot on some other imaginary get rich quick scheme.

Bitcoin exists because it hasn't become a threat to global currencies - mainly USD, Euro or RNB. When it does, it will be taken down one way or another. This has been my opinion since I decided not to buy bitcoin when it was around €10-€20 back many years ago... (of course I could write books about missed opportunities :( )
