How to connect 2 Sleepers on top of one another

    Putting a row of sleepers(200 x 100) in place. What is the best way of attaching the top sleeper to the bottom one? In this case, the 200 will be the depth (ie in total 400 deep); the 100 is the common area.

    Coach screws, drill out a small recess for the head and screw them together.

    Use these

    But pre drill the hole in the upper sleeper to avoid shearing the head off the screw.

    You could also use hammer-in truss joining plates like this and hammer them into the inside surface.

    I'd say that 3rd method takes forever.

    when fixing the lot to the ground, or in concrete, I have used 3/4 inch rebar in 20mm holes
