I hadn't heard that Fatima Mansions Walker Bros cover before. Cathal Coughlan's voice isn't dissimilar to Scott Walker's. It's better than their destruction of REM's Shiny Happy People anyway
the description under the video claims that Peter Buck liked the cover, but I also recall reading at the time that Michael Stipe walked out of a FM show when they played it. (EDIT - actually the other way around, he walked out of their gig, they recorded the cover as revenge)

From composer Burt Bacharach and lyricist Hal David - it was written originally for the 1968 musical Promises, Promises... but the Dionne Warwick version is the most famous.
Deacon Blue got to #2 in the Irish and UK charts with this version in 1990.
