Just to let you all know, I got the message on Friday saying i'm being assigned to a position. Still no specifics but now it's up to the department to contact me, don't know when that will happen

    Was this email from PAS?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 goodstart

    yeah through the publicjobs messaging

I got an email saying I'm "under consideration for the above position." They're looking for vetting info and references.

It seems they are making good progress through the second panel.

I wonder which departments all these positions are coming up in?

I was told nearly two weeks ago that I would "soon" get an email from the garda to complete an online vetting form and to do this asap...(but still waiting). Anyone who is 'under consideration', have ye done this? I haven't been updated since but I'm only in batch 2.
Any ideas where abouts PAS are in calling... might email them again and see...?

Maybe they're planning a large induction with lots of new analysts coming on board at the same time?

It's certainly a bit puzzling that so many are getting called for clearance without anyone appearing to actually start our even finding out where they'll be placed.

the booklet says, "should a vacancy arise and their place reached, candidates undergo the final stage of the selection process" - i.e vetting/reference checks etc.

my guess is that anyone who has been called to clearance will have a position but this might be at any stage over the next few months, so might be a while waiting yet ....

    I agree.
I was just wondering if they might wait to start people until they have a group ready for induction altogether.

Yeah, that sounds like this could be the plan especially if there is any training etc!

Apologies for hijacking the thread just a quick question, I have just learnt I passed the short listing for the AP Policy Analyst position but with no details regarding the interview. I'm going to be snowed under at work with audit in a couple of weeks so was hoping to get a head start on the interview. Would I be correct in assuming the interview questions are set around the Key Competencies in the information booklet? So for me this would be Leadership; Analysis and Decision Making; Management and Delivery of Results; Interpersonal and Communication Skills; Drive and Commitment; Specialist Knowledge, Expertise and Self Development?

    Thanks in advance

yes i think its correct to assume this as our interviews for grad position focused on each competency also

Very slow! I wonder if the other streams are working at the same pace in regards to actually starting people.

I was low 10-15 range in OOM for batch 2, I got vetting back last week, then got contacted for references last week. Anyone have any idea if they acknowledge you passed clearance or will next email be from the assigned department assuming I pass clearance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 High_castle

They won't say anything. Next step is the PAS message that @goodstart got.

I emailed my clearance officer there yesterday for an update and they said they’re submitting my clearance file to their line manager for final consideration today.

For context, I’m 1-5 OOM in Batch 2, entered clearance last week in march, vetting was back by mid April, previous employer check done third week in April and current employer check came back last week - so about 6 weeks to get from start to end of clearance for me.

If you’ve made it to clearance, keep on plugging away - frustrating timeframe, but it’ll be worth it.

Oh wow! My clearance officer never replies if I'm asking for updates.

thanks @shatterresistant! my vetting only came back today.. do they let us know before contacting our references ?

Yes, I was emailed by the Vetting themselves to say my disclosure had been viewed, then a week later PAS emailed saying they had received it and asked if they could contact my previous employer, then a week later if they could contact my current employer - it’s a linear process, which doesn’t help moving things along!

I was lucky my vetting came back last thursday and they emailed my current employer on friday. My employer sent it all back last friday. So heres hoping I hear back in next week or two

I’m surprised they contacted your current employer so fast when you don’t have a placement yet? Bit of a tough one to say to your current job you’re leaving but don’t know when. I thought you’d be told what Department you are going in and when (concrete offer) and then they’d contact your current employer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 Barbarian98

They ask for current employer references as part of the clearance procedure. Its to verify your character.

I understand that but just think it’s awkward to tell your current employer you are leaving and need a reference but you don’t know the timeline for starting the new job.

For sure it isn’t ideal. Its a long process too. I would assume roles start in September as they wanted all masters applicants finished by 1st September . I was fortunate my work is retail and I am due to finish soon anyway as I’ve a placement over summer for my masters thesis.

Yeah I’m lucky my current employer is chill af about it.

I reckon anyone who is asked for current employer reference will be in situ within the month though - that was the experience of two friends who have gone through the comp before anyway.
