Especially when well kept and clean, they still turn heads - and look markedly different from your average 4-door-saloon on the roads. I've got one since 8 years now, and even so at times, when I cross paths with another one, my eye gets caught by the "difference", especially if it's in a situation where you can't clearly see it. My brain, evidently used to the sea of boxy square BMW, Audi, Merc and whatnot, goes into auto "wft is that?" mode :D

Mechanicals-wise, I didn't really do anything out of the ordinary in 8 years, standard maintenance items; Some of the "bigger maintenance stuff" (e.g. shock absorbers, front arms, clutch) turned out to be still the originals installed on the car when I had to get them replaced (it's a 2006, so certain parts lasted over 10 years - e.g. clutch and shock absorbers!).

The only bugbear of these are the GM-sourced gearboxes of the M32 variety, which tend to develop bearing issues; 'though the one in the ad doesn't have one of these being a 1.8MPi (only the 1.9JTS, 2.2JTS, 1.8TBi and 1.9JTD have them), but the downside is that only has 5 gears.

they've aged well i must say, still look contemporary (to my eye)

One of the best looking 'everyday' cars ever made.

You can tell the seller hasn’t a clue what he’s on about.

Probably second best colour on them after the green.

You definitely wouldn't lose it in a car park anyway. But whatever about the exterior, that yellow tat on the interior would have to go for me.

fek it, i like it (but i wouldn't buy it)

Posting all the ads tonight :pac:

Ripe auld mileage but still a good go-er. Will do a good dealer for a boardsie who would promise to take it to 500k!

Fella selling it is a bit of a wheeler dealer, be careful :D

Too much time on my hands. No sooner had we finished the house, "the covid" hit, i havn't had free time like this since i was a teenager and honestly i have gotten back into flipping a few cars as people on here may have seen.
You'd be blue in the face at nothing.

Had grand ideas to tidy up this Corolla a bit and test it again and i probably will if it doesn't sell. I've that Nissan Tiida there, the Celica, this Corolla, my day to day Golf and a fixer uper Zafira (parked well away from the house) :pac:.

I do enjoy **** old cars, always have!

I was thinking the same. Maybe it was brought over by someone relocating and no VRT was paid?

Like any rare car its in short supply and desirable both in rhd and lhd. Plenty of buyers from the Continent would have no problem buying a lhd example in Ireland if they cannot find one closer to home. Current owner would get a chunk of VRT back too for selling it to someone abroad. Even somebody here wouldn't be put off by it being lhd.

I'd put money on that being an American import.

You know the advert literally says 'French Import'?

But it could, and it's just a theory, have been imported to France?
Just something about it, the manual AC controls and the side lights just seem north American.
I could obviously be wrong though.

There are some signs that it isn't European.

The orange reflectors being one sign I think.

The state of the radio in that!
It’s the correct one for the car, but looks like something from 20 years ago

Don't think it's an American import, they all seem to have those amber lights on the front wheel arch.

Here is a UK rhd with them fitted too:

its kinda strange that the first pic is in a showroom and the others are outside someone's house?

The orange reflectors being one sign I think.

They're on it in the dealership photos

Which were taken in France (note the Opel dealership opposite, and the plates on the cars outside the window.)

Going by that, from Google Maps, there it is, and the Alfa dealer opposite.
In town called Arles in southern France (between Marseille and Montpellier)

It says vrt paid in the ad.
The bigger issue is who buys a car like that and only puts 7k Kms on it in 2 years? They don't deserve it.

Was doing well until I came to the part about benefiting from a full respray. If it needs that then it's pretty optimistic pricing?
