Meh. If he ever gets another Ireland cap, come back to me. I think I'm safe enough though.

With Thomas Ahern being the messiah of the second-row, Beirne in the form of his life and RG Snyman hopefully coming back next season, I think Kleyn is going to fade into the background even at Munster.

Stander's retirement probably puts Beirne in the frame to play more in the backrow. Kleyn has been a great signing at Munster, his biggest issue has been (neck) injuries and not his talent.

There was a young man named Peter
Who was a determined and passionate competer
    Reggie made him see red
    He often loses the head
And on Saturday he will be a weeper

John Hayes drinks Lyons and thinks that Barry's is just mucky water.

Listening to the Rugby Pod during the week, Beirne came across really well.

Interesting to hear him say that he much prefers to play 2nd row than 6. He commented on the fact it gets him more involved, more opportunity to get hands on the ball, into the game earlier etc.

He did add context saying that the preference may be specifically related to the systems in Munster and Ireland, and how we use our 6. I wonder if that was with an eye on potential of Gatland listening in.

That's an old photo, you can see Will Connors to the right of Molony and he's out injured too

There was a young man called Jack,
Who thought he'd take Peter's place at the back,
    He wasn't very good
    He'd nothing under the hood,
In fact he was total cack.

    A bit harsh on O'Donoghue don't you think? :P

You're not Buer, so I know you're only joking. It's cool.

There is a back three named Keith Earlsy
Who plays centre a bit like a girlsy
To be fair he's quite quick,
For his height he gets stick,
Would he make the Leinster 23? Probably notsy

Was expecting at least one of Earls, Stander or Beirne to be out of 15 for Munster. Two tasty teams, there tho.

  • Teams as rumoured then. Scannell on the bench is weird.

Ok that is quite a good Munster team

honestly think this is on a knife edge.. thats not the most mobile tight 5 for leinster, but perhaps the weather conditions will suit the more experienced niggly tight 5

munster are a lot more cohesive in selection.. that 10 -15 would have played a lot more together than that leinster 10 -15 (has a 12 henshaw 13 ROL midfield ever started for leinster before?)

looking forward to a full blooded game now

This is gonna be a cracker of a game. Looking forward to it now. I just hope the weather plays ball.

I think Munster have the edge at kick off but Leinster should have the better 15 on the pitch after 60 minutes to secure it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

Stronger Munster team than I expected, which is great to see

That's such a good Leinster team considering who is missing and on the bench

DDA vs Henshaw should be a great battle

What happens if Byrne/McGrath and the Leinster pack put a lot of pressure on Munster’s back 3? Who plays any of those positions if one has to go off? Carberry moves to full back?
