Wondering why Take My Breath Away was a re-release in 1990. Apparently, it was to coincide with ITV's first UK TV showing of Top Gun, and Peugoet used it as part of their new 405 advertising campaign. I remember that ad on TV as a child.

Was wondering that myself when it popped up,remember that ad as well.

Amazing how unchained melody was still in the charts 35 years later...

That came up as a question in Number 1, that RTE music quiz where Joe Elliot was one of the captains. Something like "according to the Belinda Carlisle song where is heaven?"My Nan (RIP) was appalled.

The days when a film being shown on itv could move the charts. Remember a similar burst in interest in The Blues Brothers when it was shown on itv in spring 1989.

Saw PiL the night of the abortion referendum results. John walked on stage, walked up to the mic and said "Oh you've been very naughty". Place erupted but it was downhill from there unfortunately.

Some good memories from that period there. Power ballads, love songs and 'Madchester' inspired rock/pop seem to be the prevalent music at the time. The early rave and house/acid house scene are on the wane, but the Eurodance trend will kick in the folllowing year.

Fascinating watching. Will keep tuning in to see how it develops.
