Non-contributory and contributory pensions

    If someone has enough contributions to get half of a contributory pension when they retire, can they claim approximately half of a means tested contributory pension as well?

    There is no such thing as a means tested contributory pension. There is contributory and non contributory, you apply for both and receive whichever is most beneficial to you. You can’t get half of one and half of the other.
