M Sport Plus models have adaptive suspension in the G20 as standard, even the plug-ins. The standard M Sport plug ins have SE suspension whereas the rest of the range does get the stiffer suspension if you go for an M Sport.

Thanks Leonard. Time for a second go at some stage soon hopefully. We'll see. I've better things to be spending my money on but still have a hankering to change, God knows why.

Indeed. I think its PHEV for me next. Post pandemic when I can freely have a wander around and have a look.
Where would you stand on 530e v A6 tfsi e Mark? I think you did videos on both.

Haven't done 530e - loved the A6 though in terms of overall package. It looked like a car Leo would be driven around in though so if the choice was a 530e M-Sport over it, it would be hard to not go BMW.

Just watched your 330e review Mark. Another good one. Very well balanced assessment I thought. Your production values and presentation make for a very polished professional road test.

Cheers. I made the mistake of watching Rory Reid’s M3 video today, now THEY are production values.

Good video, just watched. Portimao blue was the colour I was going to spec, it's a cracking colour, along with a mocha interior

Yeah portimao blue is the nicest colour in the G20, much prefer it to Tanzanite blue. Looks amazing in the metal compared to pics or videos online.

Strong money for a 2 year old m135i?

Asking prices for rare/upmarket stuff seem to be what it would cost to bring in from UK under the new prohibitive import charges. Fair enough I suppose.

    Yep, without a doubt.

I just watched the review of the 330e, great review and video. I have never been a big fan of BWM but something is drawing me in to this particular model and the portimao blue colour.

That’s a very optimistic asking price surely when a new one is mid fifties. I know it has some extras but still crazy for a two year old.
The m340i they had took a long time to sell but went eventually.

There was a 19 reg one of these in that colour for sale privately a few weeks ago, it was a lot cheaper than that.

Would put money on it being the same car.

cojomo's 235i sold fast at a very good price. Now it's up for sale again at a much higher price.

Dealers are taking full advantage of the UK import fiasco.

There's a lovely 2017 440i for sale at reasonable money too.

Has anyone seen or got a link to the pricing of the A6 Avant hybrids?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,834 ✭✭✭carsfan2

I assume it’s not on the Audi website?
Contact a dealer? Mark did a review of saloon one recently so estate probably a couple of grand more.

The Audi website is so slow to update with new info, I guess I will have to contact a dealer, but couldn't be bothered with wasting time with them on the phone!

Dealers seem to be stuck for good stock.
Friend just traded in 2018 A6 s line and one of the dealers he was haggling with still wanted his car even after he said he was doing deal elsewhere.
Was happy to give him cash to buy elsewhere. Dealer he bought from wanted the car and wouldn’t give a better deal with no trade in so went that route anyway.
Strange times. I was on to dealer this week to sort grant and see where car is and sales guy was complaining that new car supply is very erratic and they just can’t get enough good second hand stock .

No route to 10k margin anymore for the bmw boys.

Interesting. I was just looking at dealer prices of similar cars to mine there and they seem to have actually gone up on what mine was selling for last September alright. One high miler has the same asking price while typical main dealers are asking more again. Of course that doesn't mean the trade in price would reflect that. I'm sure importing from the UK no long being a viable source of cheaper used cars is also a factor.

You are definitely correct there, a lot of cars have gone up in last 6 months. Last year looking at 530e from 2017, good range under 30k. Now the best examples are over 30k.
I've also been looking at a6 new model from 2018 and I'd expect them to be hovering just above 30k now at 3 years old but they're stubbornly staying just under the 40k mark.
I'm waiting for something to shout "buy me now" but nothing jumping out as good value.
Of course they're just asking prices I don't know what they are selling for but of stock is short, dealers should be getting good prices.

I have noticed the same thing in general. Values are actually increasing slightly rather than go down.
Presumably it’s reduced supply that is the caused to brexit and the new car chain has been affected due to covid and parts shortages.

Basic stuff to build the cars is even a problem apparently.
For instance I Was reading on Bimmerpost that BMW are deleting lumbar support and adjustable side bolsters on passenger side for the 4 series as they just don’t have enough parts so rather than stop production they’re rationing what they have by taking them off the passenger side.
Also big electronic parts shortages too.

I work in an industry that uses a lot of steel and aluminium, motors and electronic components, our suppliers are warning us of shortages and price increases. Luckily enough we went a bit nuts ordering stock pre brexit and have 2 warehouses/workshops still almost full but car manufacturers will be feeling that same pinch.

As lumbar support is an optional extra on a BMW, I wouldn’t be too happy if I specd it and they only gave it on one side.

Just had a quick look and 335d prices are up since I bought. Bad times, if nothing changes we will be fighting over scrap or forced to buy new

Not many would stretch to buy what they drive new. New cars are very steep now also unless EV or PHEV & they aren't cheap. Folk might knock more out of their current cars.... Less choice, more expensive to change.

I changed my car in August and if I still had my GTI it would be worth a couple of K more now than I got and I got pretty much the going rate for it at the time. But equally the Octavia I bought in a main dealer there are dealers looking for 3K plus more than I paid for my one with similar mileage and the same year. I would like to get a trade in value on it against something newer just to see what they would offer for it. But they are two very different cars with the same effect so I would say they price rise is across the board on the vast majority of cars.

It's no doubt down to all new car prices going up a few thousand with VRT rises and then English imports dropping way back. Also I think garages were quite desperate to sell cars last summer which they don't seem as desperate to move stock now.

Garages will still offer low and chance their arm selling v high but once private sale prices go up so will trade in values. I’d be hopeful that next year we will see cost to change into new cars from 2/3/4 year old cars reduce

Still some value with Northern Ireland for certain cars if you look hard enough

Cars from the North don't have VAT and customs duties so they are an altogether more attractive option even though prices are usually higher than the rest of the UK and obviously the choice isn't as good. One significant thing to note is that you can't just bring in a car from GB to NI and pass it off as a 'NI' car; the car has to have been registered in the North originally (or before the end of December 2020) to get around paying VAT and customs duties when registering here.
