Something similar for the number of hours of daylight and sunset times across the year for a given location from a weather site I use. You can see how it changes along the year, and in the middle of summer, it never truly gets "dark" here. The different darkness's are defined by the angle the sun is below the horizon. Nautical darkness means that only the brightest stars are visible allowing for nautical navigation by the stars.
Compare that to a location in the south of France which is further from the north pole. It gets darker in the summer, and the transition from day to night is faster.
