There is far worse ads out there, he ticked most of the boxes.
Interior Front, Interior Rear, Mileage pic, Exterior pic (obviously could do with few more).
Pictures taken during daylight, in focus, hoovered the seats (and doors by the look of it), reg not blurred.
A lot of people could take lessons from them.
Nice little motor for the money

Completely basic spec Golf SDI estate in a lovely dark green.

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2000-volkswagen-golf-diesel-estate-nct-mint-cond-/26482445

Has test, and has 4 matching wheel trims, I get a good feeling about this one. These are horrendously slow though.

'What can I say still looks as good the day it drove out of the showroom' - not on the inside it doesnt.
Looks really well outside, but is it not a bit expensive? 250k miles on the nct cert, ad says 240k kms. Could just be a mix up.
Its practical but will be hard to insure, 400-500 seems more realistic.

Edit - inside doesnt look too bad actually, my eyes are deceiving me.

You were right the first time, the inside is manky. Quarter of a million miles and a few weeks test she's a €300 banger at best.

    It has test til 08/07/21
Drivers seat could do with a clean - is that your idea of a manky interior on a 21 year old car?

It may not be bad, given its age, but its not nothing near as looking as good as the day it drove out of the showroom as the seller seems to think - commentary like that is just another example of factually incorrect waffle that does nothing to let a potential buyer know something worth knowing about the car. Anyway I doubt VW ever actually had that one in the showroom - showroom would have likely being the reserve of top model Passats and Golf GTI's back in 2000.

There are over 254k miles up on the car as per odometer. More laziness on the sellers part to just lump 240,000 km in and he is actually a trader.

Open to correction but I believe the SDI only had 65 bhp. Must be mind numbingly slow. I drove a late Mark III Golf back in the day with the flat diesel and it was an absolute pig of a thing.

The mk4 is just as slow, maybe even a bit slower.
That engine would go forever if you had the patience.

I debated posting that ages ago. Think it was €1250 originally way before Christmas. It’s coming into it’s actual worth now.

Mad to think that they even offered the Mk5 golf with the sdi engine

It was the era of windey windows too!

Thinking back though you would have still had non turbo new Corolla, 306/Xsara, Almera etc selling back in 2000. Probably best forgotten!
Mk4 estates are already rare, and obviously going to get rarer.

Going by the disc the test is out in a few weeks never mind that covid extension lark, both front seats and the rear passenger seat are disgusting, for the money he's asking the least he could do is test it and clean it properly, it isn't difficult to prepare a car for sale especially when he thinks it's in showroom condition.

There’s a pattern on the seats. You can see it on the back seat. The test date I quoted is the expiry as per the NCT site.
There’s little point in arguing this with you using facts I’m afraid, so I’ll bow out now.

Ah even with the print it's pretty mank inside. Either way he's listening price is €750 now :D

The facts are, yes there's a pattern on the seats but they're still filthy and the nct disc says 03/21, centres are open so there's nothing stopping him getting a proper test on it. That's what I would do if I was trying to flog a 21 year old snail for ridiculous money, maybe I'm too fussy for your liking that's just me (and a few others)

The NCT is out July due to Covid extension. It can't even be tested until 8th April.

So you want this €750 car to come with a fresh nct and a full valet. Would you like a warranty with it as well?

Stop being an eejit, an hour with a vacuum cleaner and a basin of water with a drop of washing up liquid would have those seats spotless, the seller should do that not the buyer( if one ever turns up)
