How to see what is /was causing my computer to run slow, Router virus?

    Hello,
    I am wondering if there is any way that I can find out what is causing my computer to run slowly.

    I logged on earlier today and the computer seemed paralysed , running really slowly.

    What I want to know is can I look back and see what was causing the issue?

    Also could it be that I have a virus on my router as when I connect to one particular router it seems to happen a lot?
