Waterford and Wexford may have the same issues in the next few hours aswell

In fact any windward coastal areas until tomorrow evening should be aware of what happened in Cork this evening. :(

Yup waterford up to 2.3c at the road station
    Wexford up to 1c
    Enniscorthy-0.5c

Looking at the radar and regarding the Midlands, it looks like the snow had reached portlaoise and Tullamore but has yet to get to Mullingar.

    Yep Mullingar still waiting ...

Yet does it still show less than 1cm of snow?

Yes. We'll see how that works out later as Casement still gives hourly depths in the synops.

Of course all is not lost for the South coast.
Uppers are now improving so any showers later on will likely be of snow.
So slop for the main event but a covering of snow by the morning still quite possible

Just starting to snow here , Portlaoise!

Yes winds will go northwest and there is much more showers to come down.

The snow has eased off now. There is about 3 inches on the grass. Had a good snowball fight and built a snowman with the neighbours:D

Rain has started in Waterford City and temps have shot up to 4.0c. Influence of slightly more favourable upper air temps bringing dew points down a touch. Some glimmer of hope for later.

    It’s sticking.

Whenever we get Atlantic snow it tends to only stick when it falls in early morning before sunrise....

Non-standard but trusty 'top of the car' measurement. Just slightly under an inch from that last shower (sorry, the pic is in long form - it is the only way I could reach click on the phone with one hand)

What's the central pressure of the little low do you know?
Almost flat calm here near Arklow ,just 3kmh west on the 10 metre wind vein
    Cloudy
    Air temp us - 1.2 c
    Wetbulb is -2.5c
    Dewpoint is -4.4c

Some of the best conditions for powder snow here in a long time if they hold and if we get the precip here

All the elements we need for settling snow were there. Low dewpoint, cold ground, couple of drier days. All helps even a short fall. More showers to come overnight, should be a cm or two more to top it off.

Snow? What are you talking about? :)

Snowing quite heavily and everywhere white here on the hills in Kilkenny.

Sure is! Custume Barracks reporting moderate snow, visibility 2.1 km. Temp 1, dewpoint -0.

Proper snow and all stuck. But only a coating really (less than 2cm) here in Roscommon from it, so I wouldn't be getting to excited about snowmen in the East!

Temperature has risen from 2.0°c to 3.4°c in 15 minutes here in West Clare. Snow hope of snow in the next shower!

It's painful to see the photos of snow, especially those that are nearby!

990hPa is best estimated of low depth at 2000utc, centred about 20nm northwest of Mace Head

Whatever about missing out in cork, missing out in Clare with all that's around you is a killer.
