I did like the chick talk yesterday but in fairness what lampard was talking about in that interview was experience in the premier league.

Also, I hate when US Murph talks about any back up player coming in the NFL. He did admit it a bit at the end but these are highly trained/skilled/paid backups and prepare exactly for these scenarios. He always makes it sounds like they pick the replacement from the stands.

Even with the 32 starting QBs, there is a huge difference in quality from the best to the worst. Mahomes is arguably the best in the league and you are going to a guy that has more interceptions than touchdowns. He is 35 years old and Mahomes already has more TDs than him. He has played less than 10 games in the last 7 years. Completed around 70 passes in those games. It's really not understating it.

Is it not somewhat comparative to a back up goalkeeper/third choice goalkeeper? Admittedly those goalkeepers would be playing reserve/u23 football, so I'm not sure if NFL teams have similar.

Due to the salary cap in the NFL, the demand for top quality QBs and the fact that they're the highest paid position you'd be surprised at how bad a back-up can be. Certainly there's a huge disparity between Mahomes and anyone who'd be willing to be a back-up.

'Murph, who will be bac next week by the way.' That's that.

Also have to say, I was having a shiity day today and headed for walk awhile ago to clear my head. Earbuds in, and 5 mins into the podcast I am literally bent over laughing at Ken and his church hymn singing. Its for moments like that that I subscribe.

I’m not looking forward to it myself. I’m honestly sick of this obsession over Lampard. And the SC aren’t the only ones guilty of it. Football Weekly is the same. Jonathan Wilson is the English version of Early in this regard. Tenner says he’ll be on the pod tomorrow! By all means criticise Lampard, but just stop spending so much time doing it.

Okay....I will accept the Lampard bashing today solely for Ken's beautiful singing. So fcuking funny.

I'm also glad that "Daddy Cock" hasn't gone unnoticed!

The Aussie guest on today was also funny and very likeable.

I loved that Eoin seemed completely confused and surprised too.

Does Ken have a wife/partner? Imagine what you must have been thinking if you were in the house with him when he started singing.

Wasn't it mentioned last week that Ken's wife is a Neurologist?

Obviously he has started an investigation podcast.

Every season he becomes obsessed with one manager. Usually it is the United manager. The chat about LVG and Mourinho used to drive me insane. Same stuff all the time. I am pretty sure Murph and Eoin had to try to get him to stop talking about them.

Analyzing the minutiae of what managers say in the press is a low form of journalism in my opinion but it’s popular in a media obsessed age.

Powerful stuff with Ciara Mageann remembering Jerry Kiernan today.

Very much so, she was very raw about it but a totally different perspective on the man

Ya, it was a beautiful podcast to be fair. Its what the podcast excels at.

It's nothing to do with an obsessed age. It's to do with wall to wall media and platforms, the sport itself being relatively boring to continually analyse and an effort to create a more broadly appealing product.

Not hugely into athletics but always thought Kiernan was fascinating to listen to when RTE covered the Olympics or World Championships every couple years. Might have been the single best pundit on any sport that RTE had.

Yes, much like yourself I knew him as a fixture of RTÉ's Olympic Coverage. Loved how cantankerous, but still passionate and knowledgeable he was.

Felt really sad to read that he'd died yesterday. The outpouring of affection since yesterday says a lot really. By all accounts a top man.

Hillarious listening to younger helium voiced Eoghan being comprehensively taken to task in that clip they played. You had to love Jerry Kiernan.

I'm guessing they played a clip from around 2010, when they had Jerry on to talk about some event, and he started ranting about how little coverage it got, then him and Eoin started arguing, was very entertaining radio.

Listened to a bit of this podcast, he said around the 31st minute he had no interest in doing the Tokyo Olympics with RTE
