Sure that would be great someday and an end goal if I ever have a large enough sum to hold with the big boys. But I would much rather gamble away 5K on some hail mary's for now and maybe win big. And anyway, if Bitcoin makes a huge move, it brings up everything else along with it right?

You should consider it as investing a sum of money and not be concerned about how many coins you get. BTC is up 265% in 6 months. If you want a higher rate of return than that, then by all means try the sewer.
What broker do you use? I assume you don't bother with an exchange because you don't want any of the "hope coins"?

https://www.belgacoin.com/ They deal in a few other coins. At the time, I couldn't be bothered with that KYC stuff and wanted something simpler.
Oh don't worry. I'd never admit defeat by selling at a loss.

That is certainly an admirable trait to have for people who are buying in a bull run.

Core will introduce three new zeros at the end of a satoshi to make it more divisible, there'll be arguments about what that means in terms of the supply cap as it'll effectively mean there are 21bn coins.

If I give you ten €1 coins in exchange for a single €10 note, and you complain that I've inflated the supply of €, that's not an argument, it's just outing yourself as a simpleton.

Based on this blog post, Ledger customers will be delighted to know that customer information which the company had shared with Shopify has been stolen from Shopify: https://www.ledger.com/blog/update-efforts-to-protect-your-data-and-prosecute-the-scammers

As far as I understand, this is a separate incident from the ones which were previously reported and whereby data was stolen directly from Ledger (but they are claiming that there is lot of overlap in the data).

Seeing this kind of stuff, it really is time for data privacy regulators to grow some teeth and hammer companies with massive fines when this kind of stuff happens.

Blockstream itself stands nowhere in the eyes of the government, they didn't invent Bitcoin and aim to sell it as a security, they don't produce the coins themselves. There used to be no price on it until the pizza, it was given away freely beforehand as the pre-upvote version of an upvote on nerd forums, faucets were giving them away.

They develop one extremely dominant flavour of many implementations and largely control the narrative around the coin, it's up to the market to decide if it wants to follow that narrative.

Speaking of the SEC, they are now going after Defi with Abra being the latest target.

Some people here who are into SYNTHETHIX should be wary as Abra is very similar to it in that it tracks Stocks.

    Plus
Obama's mate Gensler to become leader of the SEC.

for anyone new and wanting to get in, stick with Kraken or Binance as an exchange
    keep it simple

both exchanges once setup will provide you with the IBAN, etc to transfer into so you can purchase
Dont forget to note the ref number aswell

if everyone bought on red days rather than green days their portfolios would look a whole lot better

But it poses a interesting question. If the total sum of BTC is finite. And lost BTC can never be recovered (if this true), does that mean that the total circulation is always reducing.

lost BTC can never be 100% confirmed its lost

the circulating supply includes it but its assumed about 5-6mil is lost

therefore the price hypothetically is 20-25% cheaper than it should be

Lads I have a referral code posted in the Referrals thread for the Loopring L2 Wallet recommended by Vitalik for zero to low fee transactions.

I thought I'd mention it here as I have not seen many of the regulars using the referrals thread and thought youd be interested in this particular product.

Don't count your chickens yet. I'm expecting a recovery/rise this week, but crypto likes to pull surprises and we could have another nasty drop yet.

Fire it on to me ;)

I'm thankful I held strong, but there was a quiver in my wrist I have to say. (but only when it was dropping $100-200 per second :P)

It may be sensible to take some profit now alright.

Good podcast with Mike Novogratz here imo

    https://www.theblockcrypto.com/post/90878/mike-novogratz-bitcoin-price-podcast

Honestly, I don't know who he is but have seen his name here enough to know he's a serious player in the space (I hope he doesn't have a load of baggage?). He's hitting a lot of points I personally agree with so naturally I found it reassuring - "Trump's horrendous/the treatment of him is also bad", "America's level of inequality is causing major issues/the attempts to quiet it ultimately making it worse" etc. - and I much prefer him to someone like Michael Saylor (would check my pockets to make sure it's still all there after meeting that guy tbh).

Basically he's still positive about gold, very bullish for 2021 on BTC/the crypto space (seems like he's been waiting for this for about 3 years) but also hedging himself against the, unlikely, event America changes its policy of zero interest rates/asset buy ups (some kind of long on $USD, not sure).

I don't have any hedge like this, I might try and do something if it's not too difficult, although honestly I'd really like to short Apple atm, can't see why they're riding so high personally.

I dobn't get how it's at 3k one day, 40k months later, 37k now and people are like OMG , EH 37K IS HIGHER THAN 3K.

So confusing. It's like some expect it to go up 10k a day every day.

Grayscale added an additional 2172 Bitcoin yesterday ( (2.41 x of the daily new supply).

    Number go up.

Ex-Ripple CTO forgot the password of an old wallet. He has two more tries apparently before it fully encrypts. 7k BTC.

I heard about this on the radio yesterday and thought that it was just a story that someone exaggerated when I heard it. The story they had was that a normal joe soap had forgotten his password after being gifted 7k BTC. Worth £195 million now.

What do people think about Ivan on Tech. I've learned lots about BTC and ALTs from his videos over the last few weeks and he is pretty entertaining too.

Half considering signing up to his alt coin secrets newsletter with alt season approaching but it is fairly steep at $500 a month.

Anyone on here used it or interested in grouping up to split costs?

    CoinDesk

    An absolute gobsh1te.

    Covers all outcomes.

Makes more from YouTube than trading.

Better off sticking the money into Bitcoin.

    Agree,
He's a trader, and an annoying one at that.
Coin Bureau is a good channel to subscribe to. Gives good info on projects and coins

I have never watched any of his videos but they keep coming up in my recommendations. I laugh every time I read the title as he is wrong as much as he is right calling for rallies and crashes.

Be very careful when watching youtubers, when the price is going up like it has for the last few weeks its easy to make good calls and everyone looks like a genius. Most youtubers make a living off selling hope and when an alt crash happens and you are down 80% they just start shilling a new set of coins.

edit: not to say you can't make good money in alts, youtubers generally don't talk about the risks, because when they crash, they crash fast and hard

So are we going to see a breakout from one of
Stellar, Ripple, Iota, Cardano, Nem, BAT?

All seem to be treading water around the same 30c mark

Thanks for the feedback. I'll stick it in ETH.

The FOMO on a big alt run is strong
