I honestly now cannot see why anyone hit the free hit button early. I didn't realise price rises on free hit didn't affect it. I mean there's been minimal changes in prices since the last gameweek. At least no doubles as far as I can see.

Of course they affect it - the team that you wanted on DAY 1 will most certainly not be achievable on deadline day.

I dont understand people who say 'x is definitely the way to go etc.' everyone is in a different situation and there is no black and white.

From my own perspective, I had been planning towards GW19 so would have had 5 players for the BGW ( down to 3 if Villa v Spurs is off) and a sh*t team value so it was absolutely the right move - for me - to use the free hit early. Moving Son to probably Rashford is a pretty simple move and if anything the cancellation of Villa V Spurs would mess up those who weren't planning on using the free hit far more.

The FH team I picked Sunday, I wouldn't be able to afford today. 0.4 more expensive.
Lacazette, KDB, Tierney and Dias all gone up

10 positive cases in the first team player bubble. 14 including staff.

Their league game against Spurs is almost a certainty to be called off, with the Everton game a doubt now too.

If the Villa/Spurs game does go ahead, I definitely won't have any Villa players in my FH team, can't have had much time to prepare

Plus we might not even find out which players are positive.

Reckon that if you push the Everton game back to the Monday and the City game to the Thursday you could probably still get those games in.

Not a hope in hell Spurs goes ahead though at this point, unless the Premier League decide to shaft Villa in a way that they haven't done to anyone else.

Fulham allowed cancel 2 games over it so no argument could be made that it is down to the lack of control within the bubble rather than the reduced numbers.

West Ham game had to go ahead earlier in the season when Moyes, Diop and Cullen tested positive even though they clearly mixed with the team. Diop was in the starting line up.

On the Fulham one, when you hear Mitrovic was at a party on NYE's it's even worse, as they have no control over where players went, and who knows whether or not that was a cause of a further outbreak - either him or actions of other players.

Fulham games being cancelled may not be the worse to re-arrange, but teams in Europe for instance - it's a lot harder to find free slots.

I mentioned yesterday about the villa game going ahead after discussions with the PL (assumed due to fixtures issues? ) If it's was an european game - do we think that a PL team would be forced to play it with youth team, or do we think the PL would find a solution for their fixture?

10 players impacted for Villa. If you’ve cancelled 5 games for teams now who had less than that you really have no other option than to follow precedent.

I can see us getting to 16:25 on Tuesday and still no confirmation of matches being cancelled

I'm definitely favouring players in Tuesday games over Thursday games for that reason

I'm really struggling to see how Villa vs Spurs can go ahead now. I'm almost certainly going to be making a FH team without any of their players in. Had planned just on Son and Kane anyway, still think there's a good pool of other players from the remaining matches to hopefully get a decent FH score.

Likely 3x City, United and Arsenal, and 2x Newcastle.

Definitely possible, and while I wouldn't make any lasting decisions until the day of the deadline, in the absence of other news I would be acting as if that game is off.

The chances of it being on are so slim, and unless you've heard otherwise, being indecisive with it would probably be even more damning than making a certain plan and pursuing it, knowing its possible something else could happen.

I will tinker with my plans for a few different scenarios over the weekend, but ultimately all the decisions on what I actually do will be made on Tuesday.

I don't want to overthink what will happen in the next 4 days but also don't want to land on Tuesday with an outcome that I hadn't really planned for and scrambling to figure out the best way to navigate.

Looks like the Villa Spurs game won't be played and Villa Everton probably won't be played in GW19.

At this stage, I wish they would just halt the league

I agree with you at this stage. Suspend it for two weeks and hopefully case numbers lower.

I think its the "be careful what you wish for" sort of thing as if they do suspend it they wont suspend it just for 2 weeks.

But ultimately I dont think they can suspend it unless Euros 2020 2021 will become 2022 or something.

Overall I think given that Xmas, new years etc. all behind us now it can only get better in terms of reducing covid cases.

Even from a non FPL point of view it seems mad to continue playing. The lower leagues are decimated with it

I really feel sorry for the lads in the lower leagues and VNL. Sutton United had to raise 50k, to stay afloat for instance. It must be doubly difficult for Irish LOI teams when I think of it as they were struggling anyway at the best of times.

It is hard to know what to do now. From a finances point of view I can see why it went ahead - tv money and so on.

But, from a general health point of view it seems crazy. Given the fact that a vaccine is on the horizon, maybe a short break is the answer - a month/2 weeks or whatever? Because the latest surge seems to have been caused by the Christmas holidays where people lost the run of themselves, and were careless regarding covid19.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

All very quiet lads. What's the consensus, what do people think is going to happen? Any good guesses on what games go ahead / don't go ahead?

I have to make my decisions today as I'm away for work this week and won't have the access to fpl, worst timing ever!!

Are you free hitting? Probably won't know about Spurs Villa till after the deadline

Mourinho wants it to be played

But Villa won't play it under the same circumstances as they did against Liverpool

If I FH and there is no news on Spurs game. I'll probably have one Spurs player in case it does go ahead and just make sure I have playing subs.

I doubt I'll include any Villa players in a FH team even if it is meant to be going ahead

It's a really tough one. I have the same thought process in having one of their players. If the game goes ahead then VIlla will need to have most of their players available you'd imagine and in that case i don't see Spurs doing alot of damage anyway. Which means i probably want either Son or Kane. If it doesn't go ahead though i really don't want ~10m of my free hit team sitting on the bench.

I might leave both teams out of my squad. It's definitely one of the options i'm considering.

I have 5 players, 4 of whom are in the Spurs vs Villa game. Guess I've no choice but to FH.
Not ideal given the lack of info out there.

Could actually work out if it is called off. Few people in my leagues who have used their FH and have 4+ Spurs/Villa players.

As it stands, I’ll prob go into my FH on the assumption Spurs and Villa will be called off.

My thought process is I want players in my team that will be ‘guaranteed’ to play while using a chip. Son/Kane will be expensive bench ‘fodders’ if the game is off and will allow me to focus attention on other games.

I’ll be disappointed if the game does go ahead and Kane/Son click but I feel it’ll be the right decision.

That said, tomorrow or Tuesday could change all that.

Aguero not even in the squad for the game today, while Jesus starts. looks like we may not get to see the Aguero of old again, injuries, game time, coupled with being 6 months left of his contract. Pep roulette means hard to know if Jesus is worth a gamble?

Reports on twitter claiming Aguero is self-isolating after being a close-contact of a covid case.

Ye I'm planning on doing the same, plan on it been off and make sure 11 players playing in FH team, might leave dier or something in the off chance

It's tricky one - they say 10 first team players tested positive, and they have a squad of 26 first team players (according to their official website), which would leave 16 - then add some u21 players.

Sheffield United only had 16 players for a game when their players were missing with Covid, and one of them was a 16 year old making his debut.

The fact the villa have played a game since the confirmed cases (albeit a youth team), means the situation is quite different then the other teams who have had games cancelled.

If players have to isolate for 10 days from the first test, then it would seem a no-brainer that they won't be allowed play - so then the PL have all the facts they need to decide now if game goes ahead or not, They should not be waiting until Wednesday afternoon.

Son and Kane against a depleted Villa team could do some serious damage.
