Whoever is furthest away between Jaded and 2D will be eliminated for yesterday and then a second for today

    Can I start playing...dead?

    There will be spoiler's today

When Dantes escapes from Château d'If he goes to the island of Monte Cristo and retrieves the Abbe's treasure and returns with the smugglers to Leghorn where he sold four of his smallest diamonds, how much, in francs, did he get for each diamond?

    Fairly straight forward

I can't tell you the size or any of the C's for the diamond

What I can tell you that in 1835 one franc was worth about €15 and that with the proceeds of these four diamonds Edmond was able to buy a new boat and give the captain enough money to engage in a crew to travel to Marseille.
Also, a few days later he went to Genoa and bought a yacht but had to exchange more diamonds to pay for that.

OK, that's it, I'm coming over to your house and I'm taking all your books away!

Are you saying that each diamond went for the same price and we are looking for that?

I'm going to guess that it was a nice round number and not something incredibly precise like 84,605 :pac:

I have a six week old, she got some books off Santa. They’ll be coming into play when we’re down below 10 cause if I ask how many baboons did a Scottish reel in Giraffes can’t dance then half the field will be right

Is that 15 euro in today's money or fifteen 1835 euros?

probably why they ask for the answer in francs, a point i missed on my first submission of an answer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,466 ✭✭✭✭rainbowtrout

A franc was only worth about 10p when the euro changeover came. That's one hell of a devaluation in 150 years.
