Yes, I know self control is the key here. But I have none.

Is it possible to be effectively perma banned from a forum without it affecting my record?

We used to do that in special circumstances in the past (exams etc), but it hasn't been done in years. Any ban, even if revoked, still appears on your account record.

Blocksite addon is available in Chrome and Firefox. When you give in to temptation and try to access a blocked site/page, you get the face of a stern granny instead (or did a few years ago).
