Oh Shelli, you poor thing. Still, I think you're lucky to hopefully have her here sooner rather than later. I would be very happy with a November baby. I hope all goes well with the consultant next week.

Maisie Moo, I've also finished up work. I feel much better now and I actually think having all this time to relax will be helpful for labour (or, at least, I'm hoping that's the case). We were the same with names. We now know that we're having a girl, but before we found out we had a list of something like 8 girls' names and couldn't agree on any boys' names at all.

I'm very lucky. I had a scan on Tuesday and baby is in position and ready to go. I also feel like I'm ready to go so the thoughts of spending another 5 weeks with my PGP, the general discomfort and the heartburn is quite frustrating, but I just keep reminding myself that she has a little more growing to do.

For the breech ladies, my last one was breech all
Along. When he came out (section) the cord was wrapped around his neck twice so they reckon he couldn’t turn. My friend was breech up to 38 weeks and was also booked for a section and hers turned and she didn’t even notice! You just never know and it’s somewhat out of your hands.
I’d love a November baby too but I won’t get my hopes up! I went on maternity leave early and then the lockdown came, and my OH got covid, and I had to mind kids alone for his isolation and it was very very tough. But it’s over now and can just try to get ready and rest as much as I can. The silver lining is my consultant reckons my OH has immunity at least for a while so no chance of him getting it when baby is due, and also given that we’re due at the end the lockdown hopefully covid numbers will be way down and we’ll all be that bit safer in hospital.

Thanks for the beanybabog. Glad to hear your husband is over the covid and it's one less thing to worry about.

My appointment on Friday really unnerved me the doctor basically said to decide before my next appointment in 2 weeks if I want them to try turn the baby at 37 weeks or book a section for 39 weeks. She said there is only a 40% chance that it would be successful them trying to turn him because its a first baby and he's been breech the whole time then if something goes wrong I'd need an emergency section.

The sonographer had mentioned his head was a bit big so the doctor on Friday decided she wants me to do a glucose test this week because of that and my bmi at the start was abit high. Feels very late to be doing a glucose test at 35 weeks.

She went through the possibilities of why he was breech and mentioned in rare cases it could be a sign of something else I could look into a harmony scan. That kinda tipped me over the edge surely its a bit late to be saying that to me at 34 weeks :( anyway I've had a few days to get over the appointment and I feel OK now if I have to have a section so be it as long as we're both OK that's all that matters and at least I'll know when he is going to arrive.

Becks my own experience is that some doctors are totally fine with trying to turn the baby, others act like it’s a huge deal and there’s loads of risks.
And then of course you hear some babies are breech for a “reason” and you go down the black hole of worry. My consultant was fairly blasé about trying to turn baby- I asked was it risky and he said he wouldn’t do it if it was and it’s only risky if someone tries to force it around. We did it and he was very gentle- lifted babies bum out of my pelvis and tapped its head, but baby didn’t swing around so he left it. As I said it transpired the cord was probably keeping him breech.

Thanks for that, I was a bit of a wreck on Friday but I've calmed down now I feel like the consultant was just ticking information off a list in her head. It can seem a but like they're pushing their own agenda. I think if he hasn't moved before the next appointment I'll just go with booking the section and sure what will be will be. As you said with the cord there was no way your baby was going to turn and you only found that out after.

Becks I said the same, if my baby is breech this time I wasn’t going to bother with ECV. The section isn’t bad, I think it’s nearly easier when the choice is out of your hands.

    Thanks Beany.

How is everyone getting on this week? My doctor finally got the flu vaccine in and I got it this morning, was starting to think baby would be here before I got it at this rate haha

I'm fed up now to be honest, I know I shouldn't complaint, baby is doing well and I'm lucky enough work from home, but I'm just ready for baby to be here.

I had the flu vaccine at my last GP appointment too - small side effects suffered included a very sore arm for at least 3-4 days, it was firm and hot to touch, and on the 4th day I had very mild flu like symptoms, aching joint and muscles but no temperature. Overall, I feel it's definitely worth it for the protection it gives.

My mobility is completely shot now, I can barely walk a few hundred yards without pain starting, and my hands and feet swelling badly. Turning the the bed is complete agony. And the lack of sleep is starting to become unbearable, I seem to be completely unable to sleep for days and then one day will nap the day away.

I just keep telling myself that we are nearly there, and she will be so worth it!.
I knew a pregnancy at my age (38) would be different to my first pregnancy on my son (25), but i really wasn't expecting it to be so much more difficult.

I just can't wait until she's here! With my consultant on Thursday, hoping for an early induction due to her size, so we'll see.

I myself was a breech baby and was turned by the doc, my mother said she found it very straightforward and not painful but a little uncomfortable.

Not at all Shelli, its tough going and sometimes you just need to complain and get it off your chest.

Fingers crossed for an early induction for you, it nearly gets harder the closer you are because you still feel like its ages away!

Same Shelli, I can’t sleep at night even when tired but I nap when I can.... I’d love a proper full night sleep. I’m constantly waking. My legs and hips are sore too, nothing major but I’m sick of aches and pains, tiredness, and just generally never feeling comfortable in my own skin. On my last ones I was counting the days down but this time even though I’m finished work I’m just taking it day by day, have a lot of online Christmas shopping to do and bits to organise so that’ll keep me from wishing the days away. I’ll be glad when it’s all over though!

I am also fed up. Struggling to see how I can make it another four weeks.

I really hope that you get good news tomorrow, Shelli.

I’m here fantasising about going a week or two early lol! Mam came to help and I got lots of rest today but I am still just exhausted and all of me aches. It’s so close and yet so far...

I feel you, I've another 3 weeks in work and although being at home 3 days is great sitting at the kitchen table is so uncomfortable all day. I lose all motivation by the afternoon ☹ thats even sitting on a hot water bottle!

So, I got great news today, I'm being induced at 38wks - so only two weeks to go, I'll be having a November baby :)

I've back in for a final scan and vaginal exam on 26/11 to ensure it's safe to induce, and all going well I'll be booked in for a day between 27th and 30th.

I'm so relieved, I have to say I find my consultant fantastic, I really feel like he listens and take the time to talk through everything fully at every visit.

Ah that's great news Shelli, the end is in sight now!

I'm in having the glucose tolerance test this morning everything crossed that it comes back negative so I don't have to add worrying about diabetes into the mix over the next few weeks!

Is that a second test? Just wondering if they did an earlier one, for some reason I thought it was done around 20wks...or maybe that's just because of family history I'd be high risk for diabetes.
    Just curious. 😊

That was my first test but I do think it's usually done much earlier, the consultant asked me last week had I had one because my BMI was a little high and they told me that baby's head was a bit big at 33 week placenta scan.

The lady this morning said it could be Monday or Tuesday again I hear if I'm positive so I'm not sure how much difference it will make to me I'll be 36 weeks on Tuesday!

    Best of luck!

I think they usually tend to induce early if diabetes is confirmed. But it would depend on baby size too.

Shelli, that's great news. I'm thrilled for you. The end is nigh!! I am actually jealous.

The baby didn't seem to be measuring big other than the comment that his head was a bit big so I'm not really sure where I stand but I've an appointment with the consultant next Friday and she said we could discuss booking a section for 39 weeks so they might just bring that forward.

I'm also having a glucose tolerance test tomorrow. My first test also at 37 weeks! Had a routine growth scan on friday. Baby is no longer breech which is good news, but he has too much fluid around him (polyhydramnios), which will make it hard for him to engage. Gestational diabetes is the most common cause but often no cause is found. Having another scan then on Friday and seeing the team afterwards to see if there's been any change.

Good luck with the test. At least we will both know where we're at by Friday.

I'm in the same boat with extra fluid, only showed on the 34wks scan. They never said anything about it causing difficulties, I know she's pretty low down from the last scan, not fully engaged though.

Hopefully it won't be a problem for either of us.

Oh are you Shelli? Did you have a glucose tolerance test?

Yes, it was negative. I think I had it around 24wks, but my father and grandfather were both diabetic.
I had a very similar pregnancy on my first son, and was tested a few times but no GD there either.

I had an appointment yesterday. All fine and perfectly straightforward and nothing strange. I was nearly disappointed, I was hoping there’s be some sign she was going to come early! I am so tired still.

Good to hear all went well, how many weeks have you left? I didn't hear from the hospital so I'm assuming that means no news is good news as far as the GTT goes. Looking forward to Friday now to hopefully have a plan in place.

2 weeks 3 days. I just have a feeling I’ll go over. Maybe because my first was late (second was a section so I don’t know would he have been late too). The good thing is I worked out of I go the maximum over and then end up with a section so a longer hospital stay I am still home for Christmas lol

Hope the GTT results are good. Is it Friday they tell you, or you have an appointment Friday?
