McSharry, O'Callaghan and O'Cuiv have a chance now to set the record straight.

'Fairytales', McSharry called them, time now to put up or shut up.

Chay has no more today it seems. He said yesterday that there was more to come today.

What way will the numbers stack up?

    Will some FFs support it?

Any chance some of the Greens would break ranks?

No chance of this happen. A deal will be struck by the government parties that will see Leo stepping aside in the summer for these parties supporting him. Martin will need this to continue with the meagre support he has in FF. I think FF will be hopping mad after they lost 2 ministers and a FG minister does something like this and he doesn't have to resign, this will .ore than likely destroy Martin.

The Greens really don't give e a crap as long as they are thrown a few cycle lanes here and there and Ryan can keep his snout in the trough they will be happy.

Of course not. Politicians are not saints which
is exactly why we can't set a precedent that this behaviour is OK.
Leaking of confidential state documents cannot be justified, defended or condoned. This is what FG & FF are publicly doing rIght now.

The whole area needs proper regulating, if it is not already ( law seems open to interpretation as it stands).

In the past, politicians have resigned over less. Why has this changed?

Would you really be comfortable with SF putting up a similar defence to Leo?

Get what you are saying but there is nothing in that for the FFer looking at the polling data.
FF swallow this and the will ship a few more points. Between a rock and a hard place is not where you want your back benchers to be and that is where they are.

See that is the hypocrisy in all this because you can bet your last euro that if the shoe was on the other foot FG and supporters would be screaming for heads to roll and is FF were not in FGs pocket they would be doing the same but what we have here is both parties and their supporters making up any excuse to get Varadkar off the hook.

Even today Josepha Madigan said on the Claire Byrne show that the "confidential/do not distribute" that was on the document was not for Varadkar but was actually for his mate. Even Claire Byrne had to say Ah here to that excuse.

Debunk ; "expose the falseness or hollowness of"

His spinners variously claimed he is not really a friend, more an acquaintance, he is a friend of a friend, he is a professional colleague. Yet there are pictures on social media of them in embrace.

At the very least there is a hollowness in the claims.

Equally with the 'illegality'. As I pointed out, while no legal expert I do not think it was illegal, rather unethical and wrong. Again, the claim of exemption from opprobrium on the basis it was not illegal is at the very least hollow. It clearly was both unethical and wrong, otherwise why apologise?

Thus those claims were correctly debunked, shown to be at the very least hollow.

The definition is from Oxford Languages. Not mine.

I don't particularly care for your opinions either. But it doesn't matter.

Neither of our opinions changes the facts.

    Varadker leaked a confidential report.

If having an arm around someone makes them a friend then I've made many friends on nights out!

And it was the denial of illegal doings that you said was debunked by the Dáil earlier. Not questioning what he did being considered wrong or unethical.

By the way, when I said I didn't care what your opinions are, I meant that I'm happy for everyone to have an opinion. But unless there are facts behind them they should be presented as opinion.

A shtink hole, but they'll put on their masks.
Anyone from within will be whipped I'd imagine so they'd be facing an election as an Indo.
This type of vote is where the zest of their vigour is tested.
O Cuív probably doesn't give a ****e at this stage, this isn't his type of FF anymore anyway.
Mc Sharry will look like a total bolox if he votes with Leo now after his mouthing durin the week.
Big test of resolve for FF and MMs leadership too this.
But I still think they will close ranks and the govt will hold firm unless more comes out than has so far.

This might have been asked before.

But does anyone know what Leo did on Chay!??

Must have been very naughty, he's on some crusade!!

It's in nobodys interest in Government for it to collapse. If your a minister for 2 years I think you get a big fat pension.

Leo did nothing on Chay, he is only a pawn.

Paddy Cosgrove is the one running this. O’Toole sued him and won big, Leo’s government cut off the gravy train of the Web Summit.

    I include Leo in this.

That whole group seem like little spoiled entitled brats.

    Paddy, Chay, Leo, MOT.

Seems like some history between them all, like women, happy to play it out for all to see and get the attention. More to follow, more tommorow.

    Seems like their loving it.

    Very bitchy.

This is the general impression people have of senior FG outside of dublin, spoilt ,entitled, out of touch, smug brats

The way varadkar has carried on here, with a story that isnt plausible, nor believeable has damaged em electorally......

take off the FG glasses for a min....would you vote for someone who varadkar campaigns for??

(Similar to how sf only deployed adams to constituencies to canvass with a broad history of republicanism, whereas i can nearly gaurantee FG would dispatch varadkar to canvass anywhere as their senior planners are out of touch)

Edit: the chay bowes story is about profile etc of all involved,

Sorry explain to be the Chay story again?

    You mean his profile?

I wouldn't have Coveney, Harris or Pascal as spoiled brats.

But it's about people's different opinions obviously.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,365 ✭✭✭✭McMurphy

I reckon either the Shinners stole his thunder today with the no confidence motion, and so he's decided to sit on his hands, leaving whatever it is that he has (if indeed he has anything) hanging over Leo and his mates heads, and then not knowing whether to sneeze or shyte for fear of saying something they might very much regret later.

Or, and it's a bit of a stretch, Bowe got wind of the no confidence motion, and he was hinting at that being what was coming "tomorrow"

The first scenario probably much more likely than the first one, but whatever is going on, looks like this story won't be going anywhere for a while yet.

Despite what s few people keep popping into the thread say.

Yes,but likes of regina doherty etc are absolutely vile people, whom a sense of entitlement and hatred of the poor, absolutely drip off

Coveney is a fine person and thats rare for irish politics to boot, harris is hit and miss, stepped up with corona crisis and saved his reputation, but was woeful until.then..

As regards the chay story,it seems to be a certain amount of bitterness over profile MOT has around covid, and seemed to be an effort to highlight what is a deeply unpleasent character/use of political connection to build a semi-celeb status for himself

....varadkar getting found out doing wrong, seems to been the icing on cake for village magazine....its like bowes didnt realise the seriousness of what he had in his possession.......

his motivation may be questionable, buts what has gone on since is entirely a mess,of varadkars doing

(This would be my take on events)

And yet Regina Doherty is on the board of Pieta House. What she is doing on there and how was she appointed would make you wonder as she is no friend of the poor?
