All comers I've had conversations with have the belief we could well exit the championship.

Most people are far from underestimating Roscommon.

I see Roscommon have come in from 2/1 to 15/8 with Mayo 8/15.

    Insane odds.

    50 50 game.

I agree, 50 50 game. The softer ground won't do us any favours. I haven't been following Roscommon at all so i don't know what to expect. Its so hard to really know where we are also

If i was a neutral i'd be having a fair bite of those odds on Ross

So anyone care to have a stab at naming a team?

Long since gone are the days when you could confidently name our first 15.

James Horan could hardly hide his displeasure at the obligation to name a 26 so early (by 9 AM on the Thursday mornings).

So likely to be chopping and changing to the named 15 going forward, keeps the opposition as well as ourselves guessing.

Paddy or Lee to pick up Enda Smith.

Lee Keegan picked him up in quarter final in 2017.

to be honest it’s a bit daft to have to make your 26 so early particularly given how compressed the season is. It’s not like programmes are being sold so I don’t get why the deadline is that early.

Realistically you should have a squad published with squad numbers. 26 are announced from that list about 2hrs beforehand.

Full squad is printed in the programme.

Impossible to predict what our team will be 1-15. Clarke will start in goals and I reckon the FF line will be unchanged but every other line on the pitch is up in the air.

Hopefully management have some plan in place!

Division 2 winners.Hence heading in a diametrically opposite direction to ourselves.

Impressive second half rally against an up and coming Armagh team.

Covid 19 affected squad ( 2nd string team ) brushed aside Cavan.

why the blue jersies against leitrim
will it be the same against roscommon
are county board making a political statement
only used to use them against kerry because of clashing colours

I'm guessing because the predominant colour for both Leitrim and ourselves is green, hence why we both changed.

I'd expect standard Jersey against the rossies.

Agreed. People aren't dismissing Roscommon. But this is a forum. For chats. People are not going to shut up about future potential matches just because someone might get offended that it might jinx our Roscommon match. Future games and match-ups are just topics of conversation. Nothing more.
Personally, I think Mayo will beat Roscommon. I think Roscommon will play a bit more open than Tyrone and it will be a bit easier for Mayo to get into a scoring rhythem. And having Cillian O'Connor back should be a huge boost.

Easier? Tyrone didn't exactly make themselves hard to score against in that recent league game.

Excellent news from sligo, this could be the break we need. Assuming we beat Roscommon on Sunday you would imagine rusty Galway who will come into the game off 2 defeats will be there for the taking.

Winning Connaught by beating the two top teams will leave us in a great place to push on but we need to banish the demons of of inconsistency and pressure game floppers. The big players need to park their egos and give us consistency which is something they refuse to do.

This could be our year, everything falling into place (Tyrone gone, Dublin spluttering, we are the few teams who have no fear of Kerry, Galway for the taking, we can match Donegal). Has any team been relegated from the league and won Sam in the same year?

    deluded

John Horan has suggestd that AI semis and finals will be postponed until later.

But imagine a scenario where the winner of Roscommon - Mayo get the virus like Sligo. Galway could potentially be in an AI semi without playing a match.

like the Galway Hurlers all those times years ago

    deluded

I can't understand how posters are taking these musings seriously.

What type of political statement would wearing the blue kit be ?

I really would like to know what you are thinking on this

It can only be one of two things: George Soros is behind it OR that Leitrim play in green.

My money is on Soros. We all know the County Board is in bed with hedge fund managers.

Donegal named their Team for the Tyrone game on Saturday, Tyrone also named their Team for the Mayo Game on a Saturday, Mayo should also name their Team on a Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,405 ✭✭✭naughto

    Team named

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 598 ✭✭✭White lighting

    Both teams named.

Barrett and Diarmuid O'Connor in for Mayo and Donie Smith in for Lennon for Roscommon from the team that played Mayo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,080 ✭✭✭flasher0030

I wouldn't be massively confident of that full back line. Barrett has had little game time in the past year. Full back line requires sharpness and good positional sense. Not easy to just switch on after a period out of action.
And Lee hasn't been going well at all, from what I have seen anyway. Against Leitrim, Galway and Tyrone - he seemed to be continuously fouling. I'd have him out around the middle instead of Conor Loftus.

Watched the Clontarf Dublin championship game that Chrisie played and he got destroyed. Also looked like he was carrying some timber. Can see him at CB and Corn at FB.

I’d be more worried about midfield and half forward line
We used to dominate most teams physically in the middle sector
I think it might be the other way around now

support of Biden because some random farmer lad said his great great Grandfather was 3rd cousins with Bidens great great grandmother in the 1800,s so hes a fully fledged mayo man now.

Oh it’s not, it just that when you have such a sudden influx of people that haven’t posted here before it seems to coincide with a lot of strange posts and a bit of mischief.
