so outside of florida which was always a tossup, and texas which was always going red, the much maligned pollsters weren't too far wrong.

Yep. All the shouting about how the pollsters got it wrong, from people who got it completely wrong about the late surge from postal votes - which had been highlighted for months.

CNN still haven't called Arizona for Biden, very cautious, even Fox news have gone with it!

They are always accused of being biased so are more circumspect than most about coming out strongly for Biden.

They skirt around a provisional declaration but never quite get there. Sticking to the numbers to tell the story.

10 points wrong in a number of states. Given that the winner of 40 states is pretty much set in stone there's only about 10 states to call. To get 3 of those states wrong by 10 points or so is pretty ****in bad.

the voting in Wisconsin seems strange, if there is a transfer of power there needs to be no doubt about who has won and it must be fair, so let i go to court and let the votes be audited other wise there is a sense of illegitimacy which will lead to even more societal woes.

I'd peg it as an anti lockdown. I really can't see Biden holding that lead in Vegas.
Vegas and Reno will both traditionally vote democrat.
I think Biden will take it by a decent margin still 25% of vote to go.

Hah, yeah, I was just going for a bit of humour.

even excluding those 2 the winning margins are lower than the polls predicted.

lower margins yes. but not the complete poll failure some on the right were cheering last night.

So if Biden gets to 270, I know that is what he needs but does it have to wait for Trump to concede or is that that?

It's not a case of just let it go to court.

The BBC are being very conservative about this. They still have Biden on 243 while CNN have him on 253.

    This too shall pass.

biden will win PA and NV so he doesn't need the WI votes.

I was curious earlier and Google suggests that he's got a salary of about 180k a year compared to the 5m of Blitzer and 12m of Cooper. Surely can't be right? Can't be that much of a disparity.

I have no idea. He's one of their long serving politicos. There's no way he's on a salary that low.

Yea ppl made this out to be a huge shock

Trump had 33% chance of winning this according to last minute market predictions

It wasn't a 2% chance as some have made it out to be

conceding is an irrelevance. candidates do it so they dont look like sore losers. trump doesn't have that problem.

They can file for recounts etc. the actual electoral college doesn't elect the President until December.

Love the amount of warnings Twitter has put on Trumps account over the last few hours :D:D:D

Yeah powerful media companies portraying those they don't agree with as liars and untrustworthy, damaging their reputation and democracy itself, how cool is that!

Lots of unionised, low-paid workers in Vegas and its suburbs who really don't want to be going to work in unsafe environments, and would much have preferred to have retained the extra $600 unemployment, higher than normal wages for a lot of Vegas workers...

    Well.

    Kinda.

All rests on the actual Electoral College voting down the road.

The concession is just a tradition to show that we accept the result etc and to enable a transfer of power.

I reckon it'll be Pence who will have to face the public and concede if we come to that. The idea of Trump making that call just does not compute.

    This too shall pass.
