€1000 1080p Gaming PC.

Hey lads,

A friend asked me to spec a €1000 pc for a chungfella.

Budget is €100 to include PC, Monitor, keyboard, Mouse, Headset, and Wifi Adaptor (I reckon, to be safe).

1. What is your budget? €1000

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming @ 1080p with high refresh rates. Fortnite, Valorant, Warzone, etc.

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? No

5. Do you need a monitor? Yes, 24". Freesync and high refresh rates prefered.

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Yes - Keyboard, Mouse, headset

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? no, but if I build it I'm willling to do ram timings and enabling xmp etc for them.

8. When are you purchasing? asap.

It's a fairly big ask for a build that can a) drive high refresh and b) include a 144hz monitor + all accessories for €1000, compromises have to be made.

Definitely aware that it would involve compromises.
I was pushing the high refresh and freesync so the high fps shoorters can push 144+ and the AAA games can be played at 60fps with the freesync to stop tearing. Should have thrown that in there.

Problem is, high refresh gaming across a wide spectrum of titles requires a combination of excellent CPU and GPU.

The build above would be good for Valorant/Fortnite at probably 120 odd FPS. Warzone, assuming playing at high settings, probably about 80.

With your budget, requirements, and need for accessories/monitor, really the best you can do is an "OK" high refresh PC for now with not-great longevity.

id forget about the monitor and fancy peripherals for now and just concentrate on the PC. Purchase them at a later date.

keep the monitor but get rid of the fancy headset and use the upgrade the Ryzen3 to 7.

Upgrading the CPU at this price point wouldn't make a whole lot of sense, there's far more gains to be got from putting the money into a GPU.

The monitor is needed, no point wasting money on a cheap 60hz 1080p monitor now just to upgrade later.

I'll be advising them to get a g203 mouse and a mechanical keyboard from amazon for +/- €30 each. Headphones the youbng lad might already have, but I wouldn't be advising they spend more than €50 anyway.

I found a viewsonic 23" 144hz 1080p freesync monitor with good reviews for €148, so that leves €760ish to pay for the PC itself.

I think this is along the lines I'm looking at recomending (the keyboard, mouse, and headset are placeholders for other parts I can't find on PCPP but are close enough in price on amazon/other retailers).

I'd broached second hand, I myself will be selling a second hand system for well under budget that will do everything the young lad needs, but his mam would prefer new parts so they have a warranty, which is understandable. She'll be ordering the parts and then I'll put it together for her, but she wants a brand new system.
