Does anyone know this are there any secondary schools first-year students without a place in a school, not a place in the school of the parent choice, and not a student with special needs or needing support?

Your post is unclear . Are you looking for a place for your child and if so , where are you based ?

Some journalist is trying to do a story on this but to me, it seems most unlikely not saying there are not issues and maybe a pupil won't know what school they are going to till late in the day, however, I could be wrong.

It just comes across as scaremongering a bit, as if parents are not under enough pressure.
