Alienware desktop or DIY

    I'm hesitant about one getting one of the new Alienware desktops. I've heard about GPU overheating and fan noises. The power supply idea is off putting. Should I just build my own system ? Anyone got one of these new Alienware systems ?

    In general building your own system is cheaper unless you're going with AWD maybe. I wouldn't ever go with Alienware

    They tend to be weird non standard cases. Unless you're absolutely clueless I would build your own. If you have lots of money and don't want to build it, get some specialised place to build it using standard parts.

    You'll get alot more for your money if you DIY over Alienware!

    You won't get any sort of value for money buying Alienware unless you specifically want an Alienware.

    These days many companies offer pre-built machines using off-the-shelf parts for excellent competitive prices that are very close to what it would cost to build yourself, most allow you to customise parts as well so, apart from those of us who really enjoy the building, it's a fairly bulletproof choice.

    Bought alienware before, ran like sh1te. Sent it back for repair, sent back still broken. Never again.

    Went DIY route, straight forward and much better value for money.

    So a 6-core, 10th gen i5 processor, 16Gb ram and 2tb drive.
    But you can configure a system to your own needs.



    I had a reasonable RX 570 graphics card already and put Win 10 on it myself.
