Probably to make room for another overpriced coffee shop for the so called "elite" to queue outside.

ah, Richard Boyd Barratt is on the case of the well heeled foxrock pensioners and their super duper private pensions. That mouthpiece will say anything to get his name in the paper

I thought he only opened his ****e spewing mouth to complain about the "downtrodden decent ordinary folk" who claim everything available but wont pay a penny for basic services like bin collections and water supply

I wondered the same, but Monkstown post office is also closing and seems that is all he mentioned
Deputy Boyd Barrett said the closure of Monkstown Post Office cannot be allowed to happen.

“Many, particularly elderly people, rely on this local service to collect their pensions or other social welfare payments,” he said.

“To collect instead from Dún Laoghaire will not be possible for many of these people,” he said.

Google maps show plenty of post offices nearby, I would imagine people in rural areas or other cities would be rolling their eyes at this issue, calling it an impossibility is ludicrous!

Should probably find another thread for this nonsense

Is it selling all covid related ppe or is it more a safety shop selling all kinds of safety gear for building sites and the like

Has anyone heard that Bits and Pizzas has closed down in Dun Laoghaire? Or is it just a rumour?

    Thanks,

    It's reopening soon :)

Glasthule: new cafe opened in All Alfresco BBQ place. Was busy enough there this morning, coffee and cakes. Evening menu featuring bbq'd noodle dishes from Kwangi Chan (Bowls in D1).

Looks like a bit of work going on the the former Cookbook Cafe too.

Seems it's owned by same people as frewyen and aylward. So at least you know it should be decent stuff.
Report in Irish times said ground floor will be for consumers and first floor more specialist

very best of luck to them, they are a nice crew and ive often frequented the glasthule store,

Perhaps Monkstown Hoop meant that Jason Bourne would come after any new coffee shop opening up in Dalkey?

matt is only here temporarily :pac:

anyway i know the locals drove starbucks out (yet paddy powers remains as an eyesore, go figure) but i never heard it was linked to mugs?

Mugs is grand but Hatch is much nicer IMO, hence i thought dalkey would suit better than basically next door to Bear in Blackrock.

+1 they're only a few doors down from the Bear Market, Coffee 2 Go is a few doors away on the corner of George's Place and there's an Insomnia across the road beside Eddie Rockets'

I know the coffee snobs wouldn't be seen dead in an Insomnia, I just reckon that they're already well catered for in the village.

I stopped going to Mugs when they stopped taking cards and also they ran out of marshmallows for the kids hot chocolate 2 tines in a row. And continued charging full price. Running out of 33% of the ingredients 2 different times is just poor show

Also the Wooden Spoon & Mellow Fig (both fab)
Hatch are excellent though - maybe they got it at a good rent and cheaper than Dalkey?
