Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Alpha Tauri made a mistake , they should have left Kyvat out on his hard tires for the first safety car , they would have had both him and Gasly in the top 5 .

This has made this a very interesting Race .

Nowhere near a fan of his, but I agree there should be light on the right hand side of the track if not necessarily the pit lane entrance.
He was let down my his pit wall/engineers who didn't inform him the pit lane was closed.

Something every other team (bar Alfa) told their drivers.

What's the procedure for race restart? Safety car?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,292 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Looks like they are trying to change parts on Bottas' car - have they tried changing the driver?:pac:

Line up on grid in the same position as when the red flag was called

One lap behind the safety car and rolling restart. The grid lights are only used if the race was started behind the safety car.

It's a safety car restart. Hamilton won't be able to do his stop/go until the safety car comes in.

    In-running betting:

    Hamilton 4/1
    Bottas 6/1
    Sainz 33/1
    Max 40/1
    Lando 80/1

You can't really have much sympathy when the vast majority of teams were clued in - the sign came on at the same time as the safety car was sent out.

I do think the last two lights are not in the best position, but honestly what could he have done if in his own words there was one on the entrance to the pit lane?

He has been to see the stewards, another reason why he isn't liked by as many as like him. He was praising the team earlier on about all the unseen work that goes unnoticed by many - time to suck it up and blame the team for this.

So is Stroll now favourite to win??

Unless Mercedes try to use him as a roadblock to let Hamilton open a gap. It has happened before when Ocon drove for Force India...It'll be interesting.

Nah, not really, come on, maybe Crofty trying to climb on glass a bit, but it was a slamdunk. Two red light, but most importantly, his engineer dropped it - he should've been told to stay out.

More worryingly, the fact the penalty for Giovinazzi was a quick deal while they had to think about it for Hamilton, once again, leaves the usual suspicions in the air.

Would love if Hamilton with all his prancing around the FIA offices in the paddock somehow misses the restart.

All the talk has been it cannot be done under a safety car.

Sorry that seems to be messed up from Oddschecker. Proper order is:

    Sainz 11/5
    Stroll 5/2
    Bottas 10/3
    Gasly 5/1
    Hamilton 6/1

Was there not a change to make starts grid starts rather than rolling starts?

Might be thinking it was if the track was wet and you did a few laps behind the safety car

There’s something very amusing about Hamilton scooting down the pit lane.

Hamilton will do well to finish 7th

Just seen Latifi is 9th wtf

Will be a mad end to this race

My money is on Stroll or Sainz now

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,361 ✭✭✭BrentMused

It’s easy to forget sometimes with so many races being damp squibs these days, but the excitement when something like this happens in F1 is hard to beat!

Scenes if Sainz wins now, albeit under mad enough circumstances but he was good for a podium anyway

Then next year he's stuck in the Ferrari struggling to get out of Q1, maybe a win today will help make up for it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 407 ✭✭tipp_tipp_tipp

I think if stroll keeps his cool he will win. Passing seems very hard today with DRS trains. Will be interesting if gasly can put him under pressure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,292 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Lewis sounds depressed, will be interesting to watch him battling back through and see how far he can get up.

As much as you don’t like him, that’s the difference between Hamilton and Bottas right there. Hamilton is desperate to win even when it doesn’t look likely and would try to get a 5 second gap, and they have to try reign him in.

Bottas wouldn’t even argue in the first place.

He has nothing to lose now so no point him complaining about it
