It is used for accessing blocked streaming sites like BBC iPlayer, ITV, Hulu etc..
    Similar to a VPN service.

Thanks for this. Works on my android phone but doesn't seem to work on Netflix on firestick for some reason. Any ideas?

You need to use the Netflix us and not a generic us location

I already have the keepsolid VPN "for life" and find it pretty good so added this now to my account without issue. Cheers OP!

I'm same but wondering why you added this to your account when you already have it?

VPN is per device and not every one will support it (eg: Smart TV)

This can be setup on the router and cover all :)

You just need to update the DNS settings on your PC/TV/Console or whatever.

Works ok for iPlayer, Netflix works for USA on PC/laptop but not on TV's/Consoles as it forces a lookup on google DNS i think.

it only seems to provide a US DNS or EU DNS though - which one would work for iplayer? or both?

If you already have a month/year or 3yr sub, it will add another year to it.

Thanks OP, worked well for me for Netflix US.
I've used their EU DNS as primary (62.210.136.158) and can watch US only content such as 'The West Wing' to name but one.

I'm not sure, I think I set EU as my primary and US as my secondary and it worked ok. I just have it setup on Xbox for watching iPlayer and some US based apps such as ESPN.

Yeah, I can now watch The West Wing in HD. Bought the box set from Amazon, but it was only available in SD and the picture quality is so poor we gave up on it.

I've tried all the mainstream US tv sites, such as ABC, and all see the European IP address. It's a pity as I wanted to watch the Democratic convention on something other than CNN.

I installed the SmartDns App then I registered on BBCiPlayer Website and it worked right away.

Now I’ll change my apple id region on the App Store to the UK and download the BBCiPlayer app and switch back my apple region to Ireland and it should work from then on :-)

How can this be setup on Sky Box router ?
Plus how would you change the country to UK using this method?

    Any response appreciated

I got mixed up between their VPN and this product. Add it to the dashboard anyways.

    Hi Guys,

The sky box router has anyone manage to setup it up on that ?
The router is a generic one so it's not listed as one of router brands.

    Any response appreciated

Thanks OP - great bargain and the price is certainly right!
I got it set up on my router (not a Sky router) after a bit of faffing around and many reboots, then I was quickly watching iPlayer and ITV hub on my Amazon firestick.
Just to note (and this is not a complaint in any way - just an observation that might help people using one of these)
    - it seems that anytime you reboot your router you will get a new external IP address and you will need to register that with Keepsolid via their app (very easy)
    - while iplayer and itv hub now work, Amazon prime and all4 which previously worked have now stopped working for me - I need to look into that a bit more.

I use a different DNS service but they should all work the same- I set the DNS per device, I have it set on my Apple TV and both LG's and have zero issue with "exterior" content. As all devices are different, this is just a basic catch all- in your internet connection change DNS from automatic to manual, then input the given DNS, save, reboot, doneski.

One thing I had to do with the Vodafone router was log in and make some change to allow me to set the DNS instead of the router doing it, which is fairly important and possibly unknown by some.

Just be careful if you change the DNS on the router. It basically gives licence to the provider to direct your traffic wherever they want.
You might think you are logging onto AIB but are really logging onto a dodgy server in Russia.

I guess it doesn't matter for TV streaming but I'd give a serious think as to how much you trust your DNS provider before changing it on the router.
