Entry Level Gaming Laptop

Hi,

I’ve seen a few posts on various gaming laptops but most are out of my price range for what I’m looking for.
My 10 year old is looking for one and while he is fairly competent on my laptop etc I’m not willing to spend a fortune on one for a ten year old, smart and all as he is.
I’m essentially looking for an entry level laptop, something to get him started.
From my own knowledge I’m assuming a desktop may be a better option but he’d like to bring it around with him, So a laptop suits his needs. Conscious I’m looking at 1k or so for entry level, but just not willing to spend that much at this age, he’s too young to be going around with a 1k laptop.

Any suggestions, I see lots of standard laptops doing the rounds, will they cut it or am I just wasting my money? Any older machines people could recommend to get him started?

this is the current decent entry level gaming laptop -> £650 (link below)

it's decent value actually as you get a new ryzen cpu and the nvidia 1650 card.

it will run all current games no issue.

you're looking at 899 £ for the next level of graphics card the 1660ti

if that £650 is above your budget maybe look 2nd-hand but people tend to overvalue their 2nd-hand gaming laptops

you may need more storage space down the line but that's a cheap enough solution

needs to be 7mm / .7cm height
