i think its a name given to Russian grandmothers!?!?

I reckon the inspiration was from that word - I think it is written slightly different, babushka or something like that.

    How is Babooshka a name?

The character in the song uses it as a pseudonym, so in that context it is a name.

I never cared for Foo Fighters and this song didn’t change my mind. This is what I consider a very generic rock sound with nothing to make it stand-out - I kept forgetting the song the minute it ended.

Well yeah, it's a name. Anything can be a name, so as long as its used in that context, why wouldn't it be accepted.

    This is Shaggy, right?
I liked it back in the day, very very 90s.
Not sure how it would have done, but not too bad I reckon, probably mid table. ..:P

Excuse me, my wife Babooshka Fong and our son Mr. Boombastic J. Fong would thank you kindly to stop casting aspersions on their perfectly legitimate names.

    In 2nd place, submitted by
    Mustang Shelly
    , Blondie-Maria

One of the best Blondie songs ever. And what a comeback after a 17-year break. Debbie Harry looks better than ever and her voice sounds so amazing, I don’t think I have ever heard her hitting these low notes so great before – at least as part of Blondie anyway. Another song that I haven’t listen to a lot lately, and plan to reintroduce in my playlist.

Guilty as charged. I just can't warm to their music at all.

I know it is absurd that Joe Dolan is higher, it's just that I couldn't find anything interesting in the song :o:o

Edit: I think there will be some more people that will hate me in the next reveal tomorrow. . .

    Not anytime soon. :D

There's one Foo Fighters song (it's not Hey Johnny Park, although same album) that would almost be guaranteed the number one spot from me if it was submitted to a Walrus of mine, just like a certain Fleetwood Mac song, it would essentially be activating a cheat code...

Wow that Kate Bush song was absolutely unreal as well. Gotta drop in here and say that Foo Fighters are absolutely class but that particular song doesn't go to the heights that a lot of their other ones do.

Pmsl at IA not knowing Joe Dolan - in a lot of ways I envy you...

There is one reason that this song ended up in the last spot: I don’t like Kazu Makino’s voice at all. She has that. . . whining quality that grates on me and based on this song I wouldn’t have any interest to listen to any other of their songs (But I have said that before and changed my mind later on, so you never know. . .)

And in 1st place, submitted by
    lassykk
    , Suzanne Vega-Luka

One of my favourite 80s song, it would have been in the top 3 for sure if it had been nominated in the 80s category. I love everything that Vega did in the 80s and early 90s. Another one that the lyrics really tell a story (I guess back then I was really paying attention to the words) and Suzanne Vega’s matter-of-factly singing style makes it very effective. An excellent choice, another worthy category winner.

That's another stunner, I think she has one of the nicest voices of any artist I've ever heard. There are too many imitations of Florence Welch and Fiona Apple knocking around these days. It's really nice to hear someone different!

Will have to catch-up the replay of tomorrow's reveal later on, but I'm sure you'll be giving me 1st place in my absence, so thanks in advance for that... :D
