Twitter and Facebook tend to rot weaker minds so bicycles/climate/change/vaccines/facemasks/socialism/anything progressive all end up being classed as THE ENEMY. 2 of the most toxic companies in history imo.

Well considering how much Twitter is quoted in this thread quite a bit of rotting is done. Or are weaker minds classified as those who don't agree with you?

It seemed fair with all the "Trump" and "Trumpian" nonsense thrown around by cyclists. BTW it wasn't just Andrew, though he is the main offender.
It's the Trumpian approach. Keep repeating a lie often enough and hope that it sticks.
The Trumpian approach is the introduction of the international comparison, when it's not really relevant. All it shows it that no other country has bothered to really get to grips with this issue.
It’s quite Trumpian in nature, so far detached from the actual reality of what happens on the roads.
It’s not that I don’t agree with you. I don’t see any credibility in the man who steps out into traffic multiple times on every working shift telling everyone else in the world except him and his car that they should be hi-vis. Breathtaking hypocrisy, almost Trumpian.

Could be worse though - could be the thread with one of the 'best and safest drivers in the world' boasting about posting to boards.ie while driving.

Or the deliveroo, just eat and "ordinary" cyclists using their phones while cycling, being surprised by lampposts jumping out in front of them.

I haven't seen too many news reports of cyclists being killed or maimed after being surprised by lamp posts, so I'm guessing this isn't really a very big problem. In the unlikely situation of this happening, the person put at risk is the cyclist.

Whereas when drivers are playing with their phones and posting on boards, this is the kind of thing that happens - four people from one family getting wiped out.

Using phone to text or read while driving or cycling - or, for that matter, crossing the road on foot = dumb.

Because that's a description of a style of Government by someone who is the head of Government whereas AOC is only one of 441 Representatives

Trump is not "head of the government" of the United States. The US has 3 co-equal branches, Legislature (Congress), the Executive branch and the Judiciary. DJT is only head of one branch, the Executive. As for AOC, it looks like she and "the squad" are the future of the US Democratic Party.

Well you've strung together a sentence but pardon me if I see no real justification for your bias contained above.
Trumpian is a form of invocation for a group of people, it's not a crititique of his governance, it's a rejection of all things Trump. We are wandering far off track here, pardon the pun.

Out of interest, anyone know if it is actually breaking the law using a phone cycling :pac:

Your bike could mount the pavement, taking out anything in its path - pedestrians, cars, parked trucks or perhaps demolish a light pole or tree.

As it stands in Ireland and the UK no, if they wanted to charge you it would have to be reckless cycling or similar, however the Dutch have introduced a ban since July 2019, and I look forward to when we can get a similar ban here. But of course that's because I hate cyclists rather than thinking that cycling and Facebooking etc. is distracting from road safety.

If you put the spammers on ignore it improves a lot. The thread is about 75% shorter aswell.

Phew! At least they haven’t banned the use of earphones!

Didn't you get the earphones with the bike? Along with the instructional video in how to mount the kerbs and sail through lights. I mean obviously all cyclists are the same, that must of been when it happened?

I had to do a QQI Level 8 course to get those skills. They do it in the same place as the course for Audi drivers to assume that the road and paths are entirely empty, and the one for BMW drivers to stop using their indicators.

Sometimes I get my BMW skills and my cycling skills mixed up. Its so confusing trying to adhere to the appropriate label.

See this is the problem, the acute and chronic lack of awareness of cyclists. Page after page and yet no one seems to have noticed Golf drivers are the absolute worst!

I have to admit... I failed my Kerb "Bunny hopping" test recently. thankfully no one was around to witness it! :)

Golf drivers are the absolute worst!

I've disliked golfers since they took a passing fancy to titanium in the 90s and pushed up the price of bike frames.

Shocking but not surprising behaviours from someone in a range rover. So many entitled driving them with some serious issues going on.

I wonder how many pedestrians did she pass within 1 metre of?

I got laughed at uproariously here when I suggested several years back we should all do a one day trianing course every 5 years on how to understand other road users and see things from their perspective.
maybe if the Brits do it the cap doffers here will quickly follow suit in order not to be seen as stupid.
