I took rubbing alcohol to my Sabre RGB and now there's like a 'layer' coming off the mouse when I scratch it or rub it hard. (Jesus that sounds wrong). Is that two + years of grease and grime or have a managed to remove some sort of coating on the mouse?

Oh I'd say that's a coating on the mouse, I did the same to my razer one years back, I ended up scrubbing the whole lot off after to tidy it up, made it a little more shiny and probably reduced the grip slightly but nothing I ever noticed.
