You can't talk about Lost without taking the ending into consideration. The show was all about building up anticipation through mystery and suspense without ever intending on bringing the mysteries to a conclusion. It is one of the biggest cons in history.

Yep, in the ens a massive disappointment which shat upon all its promise.

Although I can't remember anticipating each episode every week that much for any other show.

The "We have to go back" scene I don't think I have had a bigger OMG moment watching a TV show before or since.

Characters were nothing short of excellent and I don't think any of the core cast weak or a boring (Maybe Walt).

I must give it a rewatch at some point but anyone who has not seen it I would reccomend it but just expect the quality to dip towards the end while still being good.

Must also say the fourm on Boards were an excellent group and the breakdown of each episode each week was great

Do you have to suspend disbelief to watch it?

Just don't get too caught up in trying to figure out what's going on or looking for explanations in how X happens, how it affects Y etc. Focus on the characters, their relationships and the importance of their past lives versus them on the island. All the things that might require you to suspend disbelief are just there to push the characters into different situations.

Only season 1. Thought it started going down after that so I gave up after a couple of episodes of season 2 and never bothered again. Never saw any of the final season/episode so no ideas of the ending and no interest.

It's funny (In my opinion anyway)when you see how bad an ending can all but ruin a good show (Looking obviously at game of thrones but to a much lesser extent say HIMYM) that Lost in my opinion.... really wasn't that bad..... just disappointing

I absolutely adored the first season and the second season. What killed it for me was the whole time travel concept- once they were off the island, all the tension and mystery was lost and there was no reason to care about the characters or what was going on behind the island.

It reeked of a show that promised so much but got swept up completely in its own hype and money-making spin offs that the original story was either dropped, and in its place a heap of make-it-up-as-we-go-along nonsense to drag out the air time, or characters were changed so much we didn't recognise them. I believe the guys who made the first season moved on after that, so it was never going to end as logically as something like Breaking Bad, which had a clear start,middle and end.

Lost just dragged on to a terrible and unsatisfying finale with a lot of the mysteries just fizzling out. Why such a series-long emphasis on the numbers if the meant nothing? They were dead all along! The monster was just an old ancient evil? Complete rubbish and a classic example (like Westworld) of a tv series that disappeared up its own ar%e.

Plane crashes on an island. Survivors realise the island.... is not what it seems.... And then a bunch of really crazy sh*t happens for 6 seasons. Most episodes also tend to focus on one character, showing flashbacks of their life before the island.

It's a decent watch, but nearly hard to recommend just because of how polarising it is. You'll either love it or hate it, and almost no-one here (or yourself) could likely guess which it'd be. It probably is better as a binge watch considering you don't have to wait as long for answers all the time or long waits between seasons.

As I said in a previous post, if you focus on the characters and their stories and relationships rather than the "mystery" of all the crazy stuff, there's a hell of a lot to enjoy.

Also, anyone who enjoyed Lost should definitely, without a doubt, check out The Leftovers. One of the best shows I've seen in years, partly from one half of the Lost showrunners (Damon Lindelof). You can definitely feel the influences of Lost, but it also doesn't fall into the same flaws that Lost did. It's absolutely superb.

Very good show until the last season. Difficult to remember each season at this stage, but most of all I enjoyed the third to last and second last season I think. Some great television and sequences. It had some brilliant characters played by very good actors and i frickin loved Evangeline.
I always thought I would rewatch it, but that last season ruined it a bit.

I remember watching the last episode of this and 24(original run) on the same night. Two great shows that unfortunately lost their way by the end.
