Willow Smith - Whip My Hair, completely forgot about this, glad someone nominated it.
The Beatles - Revolution 9, the beatles, enough said
Jan Terri - Losing You, that aerosmith song is quality

I like your thinking. When I'm in power, your death will be quick and less painful.

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair Vs Westlife - What makes a man
Rams - Barking Vs The Beatles - Revolution 9
Jan Terri - Losing You Vs Aerosmith - I don't want to miss a thing
Tones and I - Dance Monkey Vs Eduard Khil - Trololo Song

Eduard Khil is like a Soviet Mr. Bean. I'm kind of amused.

Round 1/Match 25 Willow Smith - Whip My Hair (What happens when a parent is rich and famous.)
Round 1/Match 26 Abstained. Feel indifferent to both songs.
    Round 1/Match 27 Aerosmith - I don't want to miss a thing (F Off Steve Tyler)
Round 1/Match 28 Eduard Khil - Trololo Song Whether this was intended as a joke or not, this is a terrible song.

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair ; woeful stuff

Rams - Barking ; can't stand it. Make it stop!

Jan Terri - Losing You ; I like Don't Want To Miss a Thing, got free drinks all night in a Karaoke Bar in Philadelphia after dedicating it to the girl behind the bar

Tones and I - Dance Monkey ; I can see the appealing side to Trololo Song

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair - Never heard it before, hopefuly never will again.
    Revolution 9
Jan Terri - Losing You - The song / the video epic fails all over.
Eduard Khil - Trololo Song - Had to check this was not a parody / comedy sketch...

Willow Smith - Whip My Hair (one of the worst songs I've ever heard)
    Rams - Barking
Jan Terri - Losing (IDWTMAT isn't really all night)
Tones And I - Dance Monkey (the vocals are insufferable)

    Eduard Khil - Trololo Song

Rams - Barking Vs The Beatles - Revolution 9 - Revolution 9 is interesting, at least.

Tones and I - Dance Monkey Vs Eduard Khil - Trololo Song - Dance Monkey would actually be a decent song if it was by someone who could actually sing, but her voice completely ruins it. Trololo at least has a pleasant vocal.

I'm unexpectedly away from my computer at the moment. I'll do counts and continue on with the matches sometime between 7 and 8

Yay someone else nominated Jan Terri!

Celine Dion My Heart Will Go On
It's not a bad song at all but neither is that Norah Jones track.

    I was thinking about this.
Some people need to have a good long look at themselves and consider what is it that brought them to a point where they thought they could nominate perfectly reasonable songs in to this competition. Some of the nominations here make me want to find out how made them and make a welfare call to the Gardai on their behalf.

Is it because it reminded you of an ex? Used your father sing it like he was on stage at Live Aid?
Did you sing it yourself in a school talent competition and get laughed off stage by the cool kids and they started bullying you and you ended up having to move schools and the new one was far away and the bus driver was slightly racist and you felt uncomfortable so you started to miss days and ended up having a poor leaving cert and not getting your preferred place in college and so you picked an arts degree in a small town IT which you waded through with no enthusiasm until you finally graduated with a pass degree and close to zero job opportunities and so you moved home telling yourself it was only until you went to Australia with your partner but then they went and dumped you and started going out with your former best friend and your parents kept at you about the useless degree you did even though they told you to do it and so you moved out and started working at a local bar telling people you genuinely wanted a career in hospitality but the close proximity to alcohol and sense of lack of direction in your life led you to start to use drink to help take the edge off and eventually that was up to a naggin of vodka per shift and when they found out you were stealing drink they fired you and as you were walking out the door, the Sunday night DJ was playing music at 110dB to an empty bar and the song that was on was the same song that you sang all those years ago and you just wanted to f*ckin cry. And kill the DJ.

Is that it? Is that what happened? Because if it is, F those assh*les who laughed at you but you need to let it go and admit that that song is ok, it's still widely popular because it's a good song, and does not belong in a thread about the worst song of all time.

Anyone who nominated Don McLeans American Pie, Celine Dion's MHWGO, Norah Jone, The Monkees, Crowded House, Cher etc, please feel free to answer this question. It will help you.

Of course, the songs I nominated truly deserve to be here. That's just fact.

I nominated Celine Dion because I think it’s a **** song. I’ve always thought that and I’m entitled to my opinion. It was one of the first songs that came to mind when the nominations opened. If you think it’s a good song, then you can vote the other way. That’s one of the advantages of democracy.

I have to agree with both of these posts. The two songs in question are among the greatest wastes of recording studio time in the history of recording studios. Or something.

    Celine Dion - MHWGO
    From Wiki
My Heart Will Go On" became Dion's biggest hit and one of the best-selling singles in history, having sold more than 18 million copies worldwide.

    Cher - Believe
    From Wiki
The song, recorded and released in 1998, peaked at number one in 21 countries worldwide

Best songs ever? No. Worst songs Ever? No. Not even close.

I have made the courtesy calls to the Gardai on behalf of the posters above, but I got the sense that they weren't taking me seriously because I was talking about anonymous posters on a discussion board during a pandemic where everyone is approaching their limit.

And what the actual fook is that last one, another cover of Hallelujah, like we really needed just one more!!!

The same war crimes tribunal that will be trying Ronan Keating could probably do Justin Bieber at the same time.

Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy ; absolutely hate it and I like The Pina Colada Song

Justin Bieber - Baby ; he has one or two bearable songs but this ain't one of them, and the Take That song is pretty good

DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide ; fairly evenly matched, neither are the most terrible in the world, but they're both equally annoying, although Cha Cha Slide just that little bit worse I think

Captain and Tenille - Muskrat Love ; more bland than anything else, but Pentatonix don't bother me. They're alright for what they do, even if its not a great cover

Rupert Holmes - Escape Vs Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy - Abstaining in this matchup.
Justin Bieber - Baby (Always felt JB was too manufactured)
DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide (Saw a group of Brits trying to do choreographed dance to this in Spain. Bad memories)
Pentatonix - Hallelujah (Going for Penatonix here but if anyone can tell me WTF is the sound at 1:50 in the other one, I might change my mind)

Best songs ever? No. Worst songs Ever? No. Not even close.

    In your opinion.

Sales don't mean a record was good or bad. It means a lot of people bought it. A lot of the dross in this competition was in the Top 40 when it was released. Doesn't automatically mean everyone likes it.

50 Shades of Grey has sold 125 million copies worldwide. Doesn't stop it being utter trash in my opinion. All of those copies could have been used as toilet roll if things had gotten really bad in the last few weeks, and the literary world would be no worse off..... that gives me an idea for a game...

Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy, my nom, absolute tripe
Justin Bieber - Baby, I quite like that TT cover

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,558 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Rupert Holmes - Escape Vs Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy. Two good songs, no vote

Take That - Could it be magic Vs Justin Bieber - Baby. Bieber!

Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come on Eileen Vs DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide. Come on Eileen is a cracking tune so DJ Casper it is

Captain and Tenille - Muskrat Love Vs Pentatonix - Hallelujah. Muskrat Love here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,713 ✭✭✭Sawduck

Rupert Holmes - Escape - the other song is great
    Justin Bieber - Baby
DJ Casper - Cha Cha Slide - the other song is good, this one is kinda annoying

    Round 1/Match 33

    Mark McCabe - Maniac

    Vs

Fleurie and the Jung Youth - In the end

This would be a terrible song as a new release, compared to the original, it is a blocked portaloo on day 4 of Glastonbury.

    Round 1/Match 34

Reh Dogg - I'm Jerking Off

    Vs

    Crazytown - Butterfly

    Round 1/Match 35

    Axel F - Crazy Frog

    Vs

Mariah Carey - All I want for Christmas

There was only one good thing about Crazy Frog. You could tell someone was a complete idiot if they used it as their ringtone, and then avoid them like the plague.

Why I Hate It: The majority of Christmas songs are pretty woeful, but this one really is the worst of the worst, so obviously also one of the most popular. Maybe its from my years of working in Retail around Christmas time and this was played over and over and over all day long, but can't stand it.

    Round 1/Match 36

    Lenny Kravitz - Fly Away

    Vs

    Mariah Carey - Without You

Mark McCabe - Maniac Vs Fleurie and the Jung Youth - In the end
Reh Dogg - I'm Jerking Off Vs Crazytown - Butterfly

That was nice - now humming Don't worry... Always cheers me up.

For the rest, see above. Canada may have apologized many times for Bryan Adams, but they need to attend the Hague for Bieber
