I like it so far, the only thing is that Vodafone's Internet is much faster.

I also wish GoMo had a counter on their website for data so you'd be able to track of what you've spent. Their data is not unlimited, despite what their ad says.

You can do this under data usage settings on your mobile, the start date is the 1st of each month, very handy.

switched form vodafone (which ive been with forever) no diffeence in internet speeds, better coverage at home than vodafone saves €300 a year.

    total no brainer

anyone know how to block international roaming/ calls texts to other countries? There is a page for it when you log in on the website but the options are greyed out?

I used it in Bristol in the UK a couple of weeks back, cant remember exactly which network it connected me to but the speeds over there were excellent.

I'm very happy with the switch so far, thankfully I haven't had a reason to contact support though as that seems to be the main issue with GoMo people are having!!

Sorry reading through this old thread as another satisfied switcher here and came across this post.

They charge you extra in the UK though right but cap it at €30 from reading other threads, is that the case?

Go over to UK a bit so be nice to know in advance.

on another note, I was in london this week, phone picked up network etc straight away - i didnt look at what it connected to funnily enough.

no issues with data / calls.

One thing though , im finding my data around dublin, the connection has been up and down as in slow sometimes. Powering off made no difference. its not ideal, but not a deal breaker either.

quite happy with 10e a month bill for life.

2nd time now in the UK since moving to Gomo.
It picks EE as preferred network.

Just moved the parents to a 4G router with a GOMO sim in it and its working perfectly, its a major upgrade to their crappy add on they had with EIR, some landline thing that could barely play a 144p Youtube video, its the middle of nowhere down in Clare with no broadband options available. Im getting 15-20 mb speeds down all over the house now, Mobdro streaming perfectly on the smart tv, 1080p Youtube video, Skype and everything else working perfectly, dumping a €25 a month inferior service for a 20X increase in speed for a tenner instead is not a bad deal!

Just be careful with all that streaming at 1080p they don't go over their 80GB cap!!

I have a router myself and a GoMo SIM in it and basically hit the 80GB every month but only towards the end of the month thank God!! :)

Ah its grand the mother just uses Facebook and a bit of Skype and Whatsapp, the auld lad only wants Youtube if he reads about a video in the paper and wants to see it lol. Maybe once a week I talk him through getting the odd match going in Mobdro, they're not exactly power users.

Hi, Could you tell me what kind of router you're using? I don't know much about them but my parents have a holiday home that they want some sort wifi in. mostly to set up chromecast.

They could use their phone's data plan but the auld fella is an anxious type who can't gauge how long any particular resource will last. Thinks that the tank in the car is getting pretty low when it goes near half.

I think having a separate box that the internet comes out of would fit more with "the the natural order" in their eyes.

Edit: I've just seen the question above. No issues with signal today.

WiFi has nothing to do with a carrier network

I was a on a break last week in the Czech Republic & then Germany, the GoMo sim worked perfectly in both with no problems getting data access. Big change from my old TM sim where you had to go into the simtoolkit app to make changes (that was assuming it didn't delete your APN setting once it realised you were abroad!).

Seems to opt for the 3g network over 4g any time i'm out in the countryside. Unlike three which stayed locked to 4G.

i had an issue last week and the week before, very slow to download whatsap images etc or video etc.

i got onto gomo and they said they had a mast down , im in Dublin so not sure where. Since been fixed.

its improved but not as fast as it was at the start. I will keep an eye on it. Its not terrible, its not the worst but should be a little better.

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has had an issue similar to the following:
People struggle to hear or be hear but fine on speaker mode on the phone.
This doesn’t affect me but 3 other gomo users have said that have to make calls with speaker. Now i suspect the earspeaker is gone on one phone but another is a brand new phone

    Cheers

I can't see how this could be carrier related.....

For what it's worth I've not had any issues whatsoever. Know a good few on GoMo and I've not heard of it either all using a variety of phones.

    Hi all,

I've been waiting for a fixed term contract with Vodafone to end before switching my two teenageers over to GoMo.

Before I do is there any update on service levels particularly 4G (in Sandyford/Stillorgan/Blackrock type area) and roaming as one of them plans to go inter railing next year if the whole Covid situation permits.

€35 a month a head with Vodafone Vs €12.99 with GoMo is a no brainer providing the service is acceptable. I don't expect it to be Vodafone standard but they don't need Vodafone standard!

seems to be a higher incidence of dropped calls (random cut offs during the conversation) since I changed to GoMo

another thing is that if you are on a call the data connection is cut or slows to almost nothing.

Looking back over my teenagers monthly useage reports I'd say they use less than 100 minutes a month of network minutes, they are almost exclusively using data to message/snap or make some form of VOIP calls via Zoom, House PArty etc etc so not too worried about traditional call/voice capability, it seems to be all about the 4g capacity!!
