I know you have double the capacity, what mode do you put it in?

I had mine in mode 3 until the hour went forward last week, and I now have it in mode 2.

Mode 3 made sense for winter months as I have night rate electricity, so the battery was charged at night rate, and discharged then once day rate kicked in an no pv available.

Mode 2, pretty much turns off AC charging completely, which makes sense in the longer days we are having now.

South Dublin, 4 panels E and 10 panels W at a 35 degree tilt, 4.2kWp system, 2.4kWh battery and Solar iBoost

    March 295kWh produced
Solar iBoost 28.4kWh (partial result, reconfigured during the month)
Battery roughly 1.5 - 2 cycles per day

    5.4 System East - west
    9 panels each side

March 330 kWh generated 550 consumed

Always leave control set on mode 2 to try prolong battery life and not charge & discharge from night rate.

    19 x 330 panels, 2.XkWh batter, SW facing

PV Generation this Month 657.20 kWh
House Consumption this Month 680.90 kWh
Battery Throughput this Month 144.80 kWh
Grid Import this Month 292.10 kWh
Grid Export this Month 262.80 kWh

I could have been off the grid if I had bigger batteries. With lack of movement the cars are not getting recharged so that means my business case for not buying the Eddi looks poor

800l capacity, the water is coming in at about 10C and you want to heat it to about 40C?

    This uses 4.2 * 800 * (40-10) / 3600 = 28kWh or a bit over €2 on the night rate (this is roughly consistent with your assertion it would take about 15 hours at 2C per hour, so 15 * 2.2 = 33kWh)

Not that bad really, where do I get one? :pac:

No, it would be a constant alright. See my calculations to back that up.

It's a bit like heating your water with the immersion, it would be on full blast until you either switch it off, or it reaches the set temp. You are probably thinking of an oven, that kicks in for a while and then switches off for a while.

once at temp it only kicks in every now and again, its not on all the time then,
