Haha, your man paints the callipers on everything he has - and adds those plates.

To my mind it looks like a rare example of a 3 door mk5 that has actually escaped the clutches of the felt brigade in the first place!

Must keep an eye for that in future, I'm familiar with those ads with the pics taken in The Curragh but not his subtle mods :D

    I had an 06 1.6,fun to drive.
They have a problem with rads as their position up front is prone to rot or stones. Also the thermostat housing. Bmw prices to fix.
Wouldnt put me off but id be looking at a john cooper works one these days :-)

Bought myself an R53 Cooper S recently. In my mind the best fun you can get from any car under 5k.

Everything is direct and raw. The whine of the supercharger all the way to redline is fantastic as well.

If you haven't driven an R53 before you should, and if you have you should buy one. Fantastic cars. And not even nearly as problematic as the later R56's.

Lads I know I mentioned these in here before but I have to do it again :pac: it'll be a miracle if I dont buy one of these soon. Early BMW Mini, all important BRG with a white roof, pepperpot alloys, claimed 6 months NCT and some degree of road tax, driving ok, bodywork looks good, pan roof. Asking €450!

    What could possibly go wrong?

Starting and driving main selling point here. As per the seller and they tend to be very optimistic when describing the car.

You can't even consider this car not to be fixer upper.

This is a bit dear but looks quite well. 6 speed, 140 bhp, 3 door. NCT til November, €1750

Same owner since 2016 and only 1 previous. Premium tyres, reasonable miles, warranty (apparently)

This dealers stock always tends to be quite good, and well presented

Have a few people on here had issues with this seller?

Have a few people on here had issues with this seller?

One lad bought a Lexus off them and had endless trouble, and I tried to get an appointment to view the very same car and found him hard to reach. I figured if he was that difficult to deal with before I paid, how would he be after, so I legged it. That was nowhere near bangernomics money either!

Ha, good point. It's a bit like saying "It hasnt caught fire in almost a week"

But the general point is moot - its NCT'ed and in budget. You got to treat any car here like it could blow up at any time.

Somebody posted here how to find out for free how long the last person owned a car a while ago?

I am aware of carsireland.ie which gives some info if you "try" to sell the car you are looking at.

Anywhere else for more info? thanks

Seems like a very honest ad and nothing there that would scare me off (the usual leaking rocker cover gasket etc)
    NCT until November
    I definitely would!
Asking €1450, surely be bought for 1250

Looks very nice and the neighbours would assume it cost a lot more. The issues probably make it more a car for the fixeruppers though as most wont want to send a car of that value for what could be costly repairs

Kinda rough and ready b5.5 passat
Horrible colour and you'd be owner 11

However it's a six speed 130bhp comfortline according to cartell.
    It's tested till next February
Taxed till the end of August
And the current owner has had it since at least September 2018.
    And it has a hitch
    Asking €600

Could be a pretty solid workhorse

Great find, taxed for a year is a good sign. A very genuine sounding ad too.

That car was taxed for a year last time. That’s always either a sign of a good car, a good owner, or a good car gone bad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,827 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Yeah I'd always be a bit suspicious of a car that was taxed for 12 months and then put up for sale 2 months later especially when the remaining tax is worth a good chunk of the asking price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,903 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

In fairness the Pisshat was taxed for a year 8 months ago, the owner has got a lot of value from it, wouldn't really worry me. If it was taxed for a year in the last 8 weeks or so it'd be a different story.

I'd love to buy it just to discover all the things that don't work on the drive home :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,519 ✭✭✭✭punisher5112

Brings back memories, them passatas were quite comfortable, loved the 130bhp but was always pissed when they came like that with steelies.....

There has to be at least one window reg not working anyways :pac:

They are an absolute king of a machine compared to the b6 in my opinion.
