    Time: 21:16
    Splits: 4.06, 4.21, 4.12, 4.17, 4.16

Tbh, a tad disappointed. Fairly well off my 5K PB of 20.52 which I had hoped to better today since I'm in the middle of a 5K specific training block and hoped that would show some improvement.

I'll hold on to some crumbs of comfort that I didn't taper and did some hefty mileage last week and my training routes are all hilly.
Will give it another bash in 6/7 weeks at the end of the training block and hopefully get a better result.

Anyhows thanks a bunch to OONegative for organising. Get well soon.
    Donation made. :)

20:54 and a first sub 21 minute 5k after a number of times going close. Had thought it would be harder alone but roads were nearly empty and weather was perfect. I was just able to run unimpeeded to the end.

Has increased my motivation to keep fitness levels up and to dream just a little bit of what I might do next year when we will hopefully be through this emergency. Donation made.

DNS for me due to a dodgy leg, but well done to everyone :)

19 Minutes for the 5KM - Couple of seconds off the PB and a lingering doubt that I may not have pushed hard enough at the end. Great conditions out there this morning.

Been lurking on the thread the last week or so and great to see all the times coming in. Well done to everyone and especially B for organising. A real sense of what the Boards Athletics forum is all about.

Must get involved with the next one.

Yeah, it's been a great thread even as a spectator. I'm blown away by the amount of super times under TT conditions.

Ha I was on the same loop too. What time were you there? I had the same thought of... Is this a 2 mile race, can I just stop where I usually do?

I think I was there just after 8 am. There was no virtual bearded man with a clipboard, nor a few carefully placed virtual supporters to give you the necessary shoutouts and encouragement en route :o

Knowledge of the loop was helpful and a hinderance at the same time if that's possible???

My local parkrun is just about within my 2km zone so I ran there. Went out a bit fast & felt spent by the end, came in at 26:45, a few seconds off my PB which I got at that parkrun in January. Enjoyed the buzz of feeling like it was a bit of a race rather than a completely solo run, thanks a mil for organising OOnegative!

Will send a donation now, just going back to find the link

Delighted with that. I took 2 or 3 weeks rest after Boston got postponed to manage a wee niggle. Only easy running and a few strides since starting back. So this was an opportunity to see where I am at.

I ran the Raheny Shamrock relay/summer/winter series loop (x3), which is just over a mile, mostly flat and with only three gentle turns per lap.

    km1- 3:31. That was ok, I feel great :D
km2- 3:30. Hmm, that was ok too... are 5k's not supposed to be tough???
km3- 3:33. Alright, its beginning to hurt.... is this a 2 mile race? can I stop?
km4- 3:34. Regrouped mentally, ignore the misery.
km5- 3:37. Tough. HR high 180s, are we going to hit 190s? Felt like stopping with 600m to go, but the thought of random strangers virtually judging me (mainly Itziger) was enough to help me push on to the finish.

Great event, great for motivation and for mental toughness, felt like a race. Really enjoyed it. Well done to all involved :D

So basically a lot of you fookers owe me big time for the motivation factor.

    Don't mention it.

17:27 for me on the second attempt, with the massive cavaet that the run was done in vaporflys. Took delivery of a pair for the first time a week or two ago and was curious to give them a try. Back in the box they go now until the next "real" race.

Aborted my first attempt about halfway through after going off like an over excited puppy - first mile done in 5:06, four seconds off my mile pb  gave myself a few mins rest and then started from scratch at a more realistic effort.

Fair play to OONegative for organising this, great initiative and donation to very worthy cause made

Well done everyone, some great times. And thanks to OO for organising. I will make a donation this evening.

I ran 17.09 on a fair looped course. Had a Pacer on a bike which helped, the decent sea breeze didn't help.

29.04 for 3.12km, 4 seconds off my 29 prediction but that's okay. Waaaaaaay off where I was a few years ago but that's okay too, fitness will come back with some regular training. Disclaimer, I had a pacer, could not have sustained that effort solo, especially on that route. Delighted to see a sub 9 min mile on mile 3, made good use of the down hill, leaned at the waist and let gravity do it's thing. Had no sprint for the finish though as it was uphill .

Thanks for organising this B, such a great buzz around here the last week or so and on Strava. Well done to anyone who managed a PB on a TT .

When's the next one so I can get a decent block of training in between now and then!!!!

I know what you mean! Strangely enough the Howth Road bit felt the easiest on each loop, normally that's the hardest part for me. Probably because in a usual race that's the quietest, none of those aforementioned supporters.

    It’s also the downhilliest!

Is it? I know the bit towards the first turn goes nicely downhill, although the trees there always throw my GPS off which has me going slower than I am, despite the fact I'm usually speeding up. The rest usually feels like a drag, even when I do sessions on that loop. Whatever wind there was this morning was on the stretch by the park. It was practically gale force by the third lap :)

I enjoyed that. Thanks to OO for organising it. Some super times and efforts by all involved.

17:18 for the 5K little disappointed was hoping for sub 17 conditions today were near perfect.

Edit: Just reading back on thread activity time was 17:27 and donation made.

16.38 for me. First 4 ks were 3.16 each but last k is a very tough climb and clocked 3.33.Still great motivation and encouraging signs, I definitely wouldnt have run that hard off my own bat. Thanks Barry for idea and organisation and hope you feel better soon.

Well done to everyone for taking part regardless of times posted and thanks to B. for organising a super event..it was great following everyones course dilema's and now to see so many pbs.. I managed to clock 18.29, suffered during 3-4k then kicked like a mile to dip under 18.30..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,551 ✭✭✭✭Krusty_Clown

18:18 for me. Not the time I wanted, but certainly the one I deserved! It was a sufferfest from the first climb, but it felt great to be hurting on the inside, rather than the outside, which had become the norm. I wanna say I really enjoyed that, but that wouldn't be true. I enjoyed the experience of it being over, and I'm very glad I did it. Cheers OONegative. Hope you recover fast and easy.
