I was thinking the same. I don't think it will be a buried alive match.

Of note though, this is the same company that had Kane & Taker talk about beheading DX in Saudi Arabia like a week after Jamal Khashoggi was dismembered by the Saudis so let's not put anything past them.

Perhaps they should just embrace the COVID-19 angle though. Keep Dana Brooke in the women's six way and have her win by forefit when the other women refuse to get within 2 meters of her.

With tens of thousands of people dying around the world it would be very bad taste to call it a buried alive match.

It's bad taste in even doing that sort of match atm

Should of just been another gimmick like a hardcore match or something

This will be the worst WrestleMania in history.

    Seriously. What are they at.

    I know, I know, money.

I think ye're hugely overthinking the boneyard match.

Don't be projecting terrible real-world events on to something that will probably amount to nothing more than a cartoonish graveyard where the spooky man can do some special effects.

The Boneyard match is fine. That's the point. He was saying a BURIED ALIVE match probably would be insensitively titled at this exact moment in time.

its actually not like wwe to be sensitive to world events

Raw was one of the better shows without a crowd.

Matches still suck without a live crowd.

Brocks promo was nothing special. Waste of an appearance as he did nothing.

Seths and Randy were excellent in selling their feud. Further proof a motivated Orton is top tier.

AJs was ok. Not a fan of the feud as a whole to be honest.

Poor Riochet. He had a great year now buried. Who did he piss off.

Vince for being so god damn small.

He has been a featured performer on Raw for the last year, then since the Saudi show hes been seriously cooled off. Its baffling

Probably just wanted to build him up to seem like he earned the shot against Brock so the Saudis didn't think they were being screwed

Mania season happened so a guy they were using before mania and part timers started to come back no longer has a spot.

    Happens every year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,952 ✭✭✭Monokne

    That's not what's happening here.

Losing to Riddick Moss is nothing to do with whether or not he has a spot at Wrestlemania. There's a clear decision to de-emphasise him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,352 ✭✭✭✭J. Marston

What do people see in Ricochet other than a flashy moveset?

His promos sound like he's genuinely speaking through stage fright. The biggest spotlight of his career with Lesnar and he's on Twitter saying he knows he's going to lose but he doesn't care because he has already won in life. Make an effort to put some hint of a spark in the feud.

The guy is a dweeb and no amount of rotations through the air is going to change that.

Exactky. He was in decent feuds with until the Saudi show, featured heavily, winning the US title, now hes suddenly squashed by Brock and relegated to putting the likes of Moss over. Its all very sudden and its not just because its mania season.

Id love to know why though.

Hes an excellent in ring performer, and he could easily be the next Rey Mysterio in terms of being a high flying fan fav.

I agree he is lacking in on screen personality. His promos and mic time are awful. But that didn't stop Rey either.

Hes a perfectly good mif to upper mid card guy.

He reminds me of a modern day Billy Kidman. Fantastic wrestler, can do so much others cant. He doesnt have ability to cut a promo to save his life tho.

That said by in large WWE had given him the chance to get over and work to his strengths mostly during the last 12 months. Id love to know what changed.

Cedric had the same problem just with a lower profile. He went from working with AJ, Reigns and Shane McMahon to jobbing on Main Event.

Yep, just like Cedric from the year before. Why does it have to be something bigger than they were using a new guy in a good spot to freshen things up in a less key time of year? Now they don't need him in that spot.

Ali on Smackdown was in a title match at Fastlane 19.

Sometimes it can be a case of good talent who offers something fresh getting used to have some variety. It is not a major push designed to make them a big deal now, just use of the roster and a test of how they may deal with a bigger spot in time to come.

I would argue they handicapped him from the outset by not leaving a mask on him and let him maintain a bit of mystique.

The gig is indeed up when he speaks and that's why they should of put the focus on what he can do as opposed to what he can't.

Which goes back to the question about the flashy moveset, extra rotations on a move compared to others matter little. Once people see it a few times it loses its appeal.

So what draws people in if the performer can't talk or engage people?

Watching RAW here from March 30th 1998. The crowning of SCSA as champion and the start of his rival with Vince and the New DX forms tonight with Shawn out injured.

Christ they were the good oul days!

The rocks IC belt with the purple strap is something I forgot about.
Also why is the first hour Raw Is War with Micheal Cole & JR and the second hour War Zone with The King and JR?

Raw is sold as separate hours of programming. It helps with the channels average ratings and ad rates. Something to do with having 2(then, 3 now) shows of X rating rather than one.

They no longer stop after hour 1 and reboot the credits under a different name tho do they?

No. There's a copyright graphic that appears in the bottom left hand corner which is when the show changes but it doesn't interrupt the show. This has happened as long as I've been watching raw.

What drew people to the likes of Benoit and Kingston to warrant a run with the title? Neither were very good talkers which suggests there are other things to be valued such as in ring work.

Mysterio is another example of someone who got over where his ability to talk or not talk was irrelevant.

You can hardly say Ricochet has been given the chance to show what he's capable of and it goes back to the struggle the company has had in general for a long time; their first instinct now is to shove a mic in front of someone's face to get them over. Look what they turned Strauman into when he was doing just fine without being on the mic and doing comedy bits, or what they did to Reigns which ruined him for years when at one point he looked like the clear breakout star in the shield that the fans were getting behind. Nakamura and Cesaro are other such cases and look at Sami Zayn, fit to wrestle for a long time but instead used him as a promo guy/manager.

They're not willing anymore to show the patience it takes to let someone get over by sticking to their strengths.

Yup. Still reported in 3 single hour blocks in the ratings.

But that still happened but the show was called different things.
