great thread---been thinking recently about taking pics of my ticket stubs.I have kept hold of them since the very first one in 1981.I only have one from Dublin in the 90's ,that was Machine Head at the SFX.A memorable gig as I've never seen the walls sweat like that at any other gig.And Logan Mader their drummer took a mad run and jumped into the crowd at one stage.Huge fella--the crowd tried to part LOL....

Logan Mader is a guitarist, not a drummer. Chris Kontos was drummer for that era (he has just returned along with Mader as part of BME anniversary tour)

just come across this thread and thought id rectify it…
was at the steroelab gig in Rock Garden with a sadly now passed friend. Remember the organist playing Ezzergood (The Same) on the Moog between one of the songs as a piss take. Seen many a good band in smaller venues back in them days:
    Cranberries - rock garden

Blur - McGonaguls (Damien Alburn hanging upside-down from the rafters)

Cornershop - Some place at the top O'Connell street (Fibber McGEEs maybe?)

to name just a few… great days, no cameras or phones only memories of wonderful experiences

Great thread thanks. Any stubs from Jason & the scorchers from the 80s in the stadium? Amazing gig apparently. Great band live. Enjoyed the NME tour in the SFX with Bluetones and the Cardigans for half-nothing. £8 or something like that. Must root out a few tickets. Mansions in the Rock Garden also a brilliant gig. SLF two nights in the Tivoli in ‘94. First ‘event shirt’ I saw for sale. Still have it!

Blur - Mandela Hall, Belfast. Around same time, no doubt. Went with friends. Lads said 'they'll never become anything'.

I still remind them of this! 😁

I said the same thing when i saw Fontaines supporting Yak in Academy 2 back in 2016! Well, i said they wouldn't amount to anything more than the go-to local support act for the next 5 years.

How many more years? How much time is there left? All the rivers reversed while you counted each step.

30 years after the debut experiment - the major Dutch outdoor rave of the summer attracts crowds of up to 90,000 these days albeit with a much stricter regime apparently.

i was at that Dylan gig in RDS, my 1st time seeing him, and he was truly awful, forgot the words to loads of songs, band kept going and guitarist reminded him, he came out in a hoodie, and it was fully up for the whole gig, a terrible introduction to Dylan, but i still like him, and have seen him since and he was way better.

Good luck with the Doobie Brothers 2025 gig (I see it listed in your signature) - if you haven’t seen them before you’re in for a treat

I saw them once before, on the Bluesfest bill with Steely Dan in 2017 (prior to Michael McDonald's return), and they were excellent, so I'm looking forward to it.
